Neat tanks! I see at least one fish!

What is the ban you speak of? Is it a result of the virus?
Thank you! I have 5 betta fish. From left section to right is Jaxon, Silas, Jonah, Alonso, and Gustav or "Gus". Each of them get roughly 8 gallons in their respective sections.

No, it doesn't have to do with coronavirus. The ban was implicated around last year early December. I'm not sure what exactly their reasoning was for the ban but all aquatic medications containing anti-biotics of any form are banned. People are outraged of course because 1, hobbyist have been using them for years to treat ailments in their fish and 2, no fish specialty veterinarians exist in this area. So, I'm wondering if it's even possible to ethically own fish when there is no solid treatment option. I've heard people say that they've watched their entire system crash and all their fish die because they no longer have access to antibiotics.

Is it possible to research the treatment yourself and then have your regular vet prescribe the meds? Reptile owners do that all the time (as reptile vets are few and far between). Of course it requires your vet's cooperation, but most vets want to help animals.

Awww dang. Does this mean we can't buy Fish Mox anymore? I knew that it would happen eventually because we were all buying it for ourselves and our cats because it's just regular amoxicillin. That was so convenient to be able to buy over the counter!

Almost had a panic attack and am crying.
Awww man. I'm sorry to hear this. I hope she's okay!

I'm waiting for Comcast to show up to get our internet hooked up, and working on progress reports offline for my students, but I needed a break, so thought I'd send a little phone data update.

Girls were not happy to be put in their carriers and the car, and now they want out of the basement to explore, but it's safer to keep them in there than to let them out and put them back in when the movers get here, so they'll deal.

Guess I'd better get back to work.

I highly doubt it. Vets here are very strict and almost never give any wiggle room for anything. Plus, there is also a law that the animal has to be physically examined in person before any medications can be prescribed by a veterinarian.

I'm debating whether or not I should get out of the hobby at this point.

Well, yeah, here too, which means a vet who knows nothing about snakes will at least have to look at the snake. But I suppose that would be harder with fish, wouldn't it?

That really stinks, I hope the industry can figure out a way to provide the necessary meds somehow.

Hmm, just looked it up and it's been in effect for a year and a half, so if there was a loophole they probably would have found it by now :/. I mean, I understand why they did it; antibiotic use is WAY too high, antibiotic contamination of the water table is a problem, and I think the US should be stricter about it or we're really going to regret it in, idk, 50 years or so, but it does hamper things for fishkeepers.

I swear the day I look my supervisor in the face and hand her my two weeks will be the best day of my life. I hate her so much, she makes this job even worse than my boss ever did.
Show Me Your Kitties Show Me Your Kitties I know today there is a lot more micromanaging going on than there ever used to be. What, they think workers ar e stupid?? It is ridiculous. I hope you can find another job you will like more, or rather; the supervisor will learn to be more empathetic.🌺

Is that the new basement? It looks so nice & brand new. That will make a great cat room. 👍

Stop messing with that phone and give me some pudding!
Awww, what a sweet little puddin' head. 😍

I had a shift manager who was pure evil, so I know how you feel. I will never forget him as long as I live. I don't usually hate people, but for him I will make an exception. I swear the devil lived inside him. :devilish:

Ah, love those names! Especially Gustav and Jaxon!

That's so frustrating about the fish anti-biotics. Like you mentioned, where can someone find a fish specialist to actually prescribe them? Sending positive vibes to all your bettas.

Thanks <3 After over 3-4 hours and over $800 that they couldn't find anything wrong that pointed to anything wrong and think it was something she ate. They said I could leave her for a few hours and they would try to feed later or I could take her home after they give fluids and an appetite stimulus injection. I choose to take her home so my bill didn't go up more, although Persia gets very anxious in new situations and knew she would do better being back at home where she would feel more relaxed.

She had much energy after getting home and looked very awake and explored. Now she is passed out on the couch. Poor Katrina didn't recognize her and hissed at Persia when Persia got within 6 inches of her face... They both were in the bathroom with me and Katrina even whacked Persia on the nose, awww. Poor Persia looked so confused. I hope they are back to cuddling soon.

Supposed to do a follow up with my vet next week because her blood sugar was a bit high, but they said it could be normal considering how nervous she was.

Moving day!

<3 I'm sorry it's still so rough for you.

Two things I'm wondering is whether Shaman is still alive and why is it Treasure whines til I go outside and then he goes to other end of the yard when I do come outside. lol
Cats are so silly sometimes. Maybe Treasure just wants you to be out with him??

Graceful-Lily Graceful-Lily maybe you can slip across border and get it in U.S.; similar to how some U.S. citizens slip over to Canada to get meds.🐠:fish::silver:

That is the basement. We actually put the cat tree in a different room and the basement may eventually become the man cave when we get furniture for it, but it was the safest place to keep them when the movers were in and out.

Lelia's super upset with me for picking her up, and moving her, and picking her up and moving her again when the movers did need to put stuff in the basement. Hopefully she'll forgive me soon.

Better and more quieter than the cats! That's Myrtle, my class pet who may never go back to my class, and we're not sure if she's a boy or girl. She might actually be a boy named Myrtle, whoops, but we thought we got the girl of the two that were donated to the school at the time.

Oh heck. It does sound like I have a DVT blood clot in my leg. Pain in only one leg, mostly behind the knee. Caused from laying in bed too long after an injury. Is there any chance I could lose my leg because I waited so long? Gonna try a compression stocking on it tonight.
Will you be able to get this checked out soon? :hugs: :heartshape:
