I have supplements and medications to give the cats. All the them have syringes, or many of them. Sometimes I'm given multiple syringes as over time the stop working right or the numbers fade off them. Each time I look at some of them I think - well this syringe looks less for 1 ml than this one.

Some brands are just really bad with the markings :dunno: I prefer BD and Monoject syringes since the markings are consistent.

On my mind, my beloved foster Nora, was adopted after the shelter I love posted these photos of her. I sure don't dress my own cats up but the shelter cats get more applications when people know the cat is so easy to handle. It just seems to set their worries aside. Nora is a sweet playful girl and I'm happy she got adopted. I wish she went with her sibling but she went with another female kitten around her age that was placed with them as that kitten was the only survivor of a litter and needed a big sis and bro to teach her the ways of feline interaction.

Kisses to my vampy little Nora. I hope your owners get to have their minds blown by how amazing cat- person relationships can be. Many happy years my dearest Nora.

I'd say bad. *nods* I'm going to the pharmacy tomorrow and see about "one syringe to rule them all". I really thought my lack of sleep had tossed me into coo-coo land but it's seeming that I'm not that far gone yet lol

I'll ask about these brands and the diabetic ones to see if we can get some accurate consistency. I only medicate when I have to and I certainly don't want to over do it or under do it. I know it'll never be exact but these were like way off each other.

I'm thinking about buying a male betta fish next month for my birthday. I haven't owned one since I was in kindergarten and quite honestly, I just miss having fish in the house. I always used to have guppies and african cichlids growing up. The aquarium would always help me with stress so I'm going to be putting this one in my bedroom.

I found an aquarium set that includes a 10 gallon tank, filter, heater, thermometer, net, and water conditioner all for $100. With the fish, decorations, food, and gravel, the total start up cost is going to be about $170 which isn't too bad.

Hopefully I get enough birthday money this year!

I LOVE these guys, miss having one in the house as well, and the different tails that are available now are simply stunning!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you - it sounds like you're going to give your new fish buddy a truly fabulous home!

What's on my mind is short 'n sweet lol - I can't believe we ended up with a day without anything planned, no drama or chaos elsewhere in the fam' tree that we know of, and I'm pretty sure I just saw a furry black tail head off to bed. :cloud9:

Nice! I love Bettas.

You can usually find a good 10g setup for less than $100. A lot less! Look at Walmart and Petsmart. I think a 10g kit is usually around $40 or so, sometimes you can hit a good sale and find a better price. There are some pretty nice 5g sets too, if you can't find space in the bedroom for a 10g.

Petco has been selling some really fancy Bettas lately.

There's a great betta forum here: Betta Fish and Betta Fish Care Poke around, post questions, and look for threads featuring great sales and deals on supplies. I scored a great deal on a 13 gallon tank once, $27 and the original price was over $100.

Draco Draco is pretty well knowledgeable about fish if you have questions :)

Have you considered females. My son has a 10 gallon tank (in my bathroom) with 5 females. Although I believe the blue on is a plakat, not sure though. Females live happily together as long as they have some room, and a 10 gallon tank is perfect.
Since I want to believe the blue is male, I've named them David, Jodi, Martha, Donna and Rose.

Don't forget bloodworms. You buy them frozen. It's good for them and they like it. As a supplement, not as a main source.
Freeze dried ones are also available and easier to dispense :)

I've heard that some bettas like green peas, fresh or a thawed frozen one.

Calm days are always the best! Glad you got to enjoy one.

Yes! I don't remember there being so many options when I was younger. I went to PetSmart today to look at them and there were so many to choose from.

I'm actually looking on Kijiji now and keeping an eye out just in case anyone has a tank that they don't want anymore. So far, not much luck. The only reason I wouldn't mind paying the $100 is because it comes with a heater and a thermometer which is important for these fish. Especially since the temperature in my house is unstable. It would be more expensive for me to buy everything separate.

What I'm currently seeing is a lot of old beat up tanks and people wanting more money for it than what it is worth. Walmart has a 10 gallon tank but it's also $100 and the reviews are very poor. I live in Canada so the pricing might be different. Things cost a lot more here in comparison.

Thank you! I had no idea there was a forum for betta fish - awesome!

I've thought about starting a sorority but I really love the beauty of the males so I'm a bit torn. I'm not sure how to decide.

I will add that to my list of things to buy, thank you!

That's cool. I've also heard of people preparing their own food for them out of organic beef heart. Apparently, it's very healthy for them.

I settled on a food called Bug Bites Tropical Fish Formula. It's made from insects and the ingredient list seems good.

Don't forget that there's a forum here on TCS to further discuss your future pet fish :fish: It's the Other Pets and Animals one.

When I had a betta, Hikari was the best brand to feed. Not sure about now, though.I'm sure that betta forum will have recommendations on food and all that :agree:

I forgot you were in Canada. Yeah, pricing and/or availability may be different.

The Petsmart here has very few Bettas, no real variety. Petco is the one that has a bunch. But Petsmart has the better variety and pricing for tanks and decor. Haha, it's all complicated. Good thing you have a few months to prepare so you can find the best deal!

Check out Facebook Marketplace for used tanks too. So many people buy one and then lose interest quickly, so buying a new one is rarely necessary.

Don't buy one from Walmart. My son and his GF have bought 3 from there and within 2 months they started leaking. Every one of them. Almost killed the fish because it wasn't noticed immediately. Besides, they are doing away with their fish stuff.

Huh, even the 10g tanks? I never had any trouble but it's been a few years. I would guess they aren't handled all that carefully.

The Walmart here got rid of the live fish tanks but still sells empty tanks, fish food, decor and all that.

The Walmarts up here on the mountain still have some fish stuff, but they have said that they are not going to sell it anymore. This was in July, so............
They said it was all Walmarts and not just this one. However, I believe everyone up here is compenent, so I'm not so sure how accurate the info is.

:alright: I'm sorry. Snow has no redeeming qualities IMO. Be careful out there.
I am not looking forward to having snow now that I live in Reno, NV. It has been miserably cold every morning (25F and lower) with not a cloud in the sky and since I live on top of a hill which is much higher than the part of Reno where all the casinos are I am told I will have snow to shovel out of my driveway although my street will be cleared. I will certainly miss sunny Southern California when that time comes. However, it is also possible that there will be no snow at all, one can hope as I have no intention on learning how to drive in that stuff.
