Hi hi!

Recently I saw a video of someone describing their cat paws scent and it got me thinking. Miso often shoves her paws in my face and starts caressing me 😂 I can always smell her paws and to be honest they smell kind of like corn. Maybe like popcorn or corn chips. Does anyone experience a similar smell? And does anyone know where it comes from?
Genuinely just curious because they smell so different from the rest of her, and thinking back on it I remember all of my past cats had a similar corn like smell to their paws.

I read somewhere that says why cats have paws that smells like corn is that bacteria and yeast lives in the cat's paws and the microorganism produces a smell that resembles the smell of corn chips.

If they over groom their paws, it could be a medical condition. Look out for discharge, sores or crusty paws.

What type of cat litter do you use?

They do have scent glands in their paws, they release pheromones onto things with those tootsies.... paws will have a slightly different scent than elsewhere ( don't know about popcorn scent but might be how it smells to you- I do love cat paws under my nose,,they smell good❤

I changed litter a long time ago and it stuck between the toes, tracked alot- paws didn't smell nice

I love to now know that my cat puts her bacteria and yeast on my face daily 😂 must be really great for my acne prone skin lmao

The cat litter is like a fine gravel type texture and it clumps together. We had the wood type first but that would just make her paws smell like cat pee because the wood would break down into dust and stay on her paws

The fine texture clumping litter shouldn't be part of it - So thst leaves that idea out,lol .... I was just considering all things that came to mind

We call those "frito feet" when they smell like corn chips. :)
Lila is a big lap cat, and is a kneader but I honestly haven't ever noticed a smell to her feet. Her toe beans are adorable, though!
