We have been in the midst of some blistering cold weather, down to minus 17F overnight. I checked the back porch camera this morning to see who of my regulars came for water and shelter last night, and was happy to see that no one came. Hopefully they were all tucked into warm indoor beds or dens.

This can be a good or bad thing, but my cats have static cling! More than once I've gone to pet them and shocked myself (or they've shocked themselves!). LOL!
Over 50yrs ago I volunteered at the ASPCA- so many cats(& dogs),are surrendered because of people claiming they are allergic to animal dander---- back then they used to recommend a capful of Downy Fabric softener in a bath, don't do their face and rinse very well to remove dander and it worked..... back then I never once heard of any dog or cat having any issues because of it - today we learn most laundry softeners contain CT-226( cationic polymers) & QUATS which are a health hazard to pets..so I wonder, was CT- 226 & all these other harnful chenicals used back then in our products? I believe in the 60s they were not

Anyway, just reminded me of that because I knew a lady that used to wipe her dog down with dryer sheets because she said he was always shocking her.....dryer sheets!Imagine that? Meanwhile her dog was like twenty something years old with a wee bit arthritis and she didn't want to hear a thing about toxins- she used to say" toughen up buttercup" & believed in acquiring immunity by intentional exposure-..... imo, daft!I'd call it " lucky dog"

Thankfully we have leftovers so we are doing that. Spent quite some time at the vet more with Izzy's eye. Now she will be on the compound drops and the original ointment as needed. They did other test as I had another concern. Purposely cooked this week to have leftovers just need to pick one of two.

What I love about my house - windows that let the sun heat the house even on the coldest day. It may be zero degrees outside, but at living room floor level it’s 80. ignore the time and date. I only use this for room temp and humidity.View attachment 493181
That is lucky. We have the same thing with our house on sunny days but in summer we may have to close window coverings as it gets to hot.

My house was built with a roofline that blocks the summer sun. It’s dark inside all summer but also cool. Then In fall as the sun is lower in the sky the sunlight floods in.

It’s actually pencil grip but the cats have thought it better suited to be their toy. I love all the different places it shows up.
So cute-I love seeing little things show up here & there too.... I was eating popcorn a little bit ago and dropped a piece,Bella is having a ball with this thing..... I thought I dropped more because I saw popcorn on the floor in the kitchen, the dining room and my bedroom.Nope, same little piece shes been playing with throughout the house- now she's lying down with it,lol

She may decide it’s time to eat her kill. Several of my girls have loved popcorn.

Not 15 minutes ago my cats all run to the front window- I really thought it might be a racoon or a rat or something that caught Samis attention,of course all the other little nosey busy bodies have to hop on up to see what's out there....Im paying zero attention as I continue to cook for tomorrow ( fireworks are ridiculous,I can't imagine what they were like last night!)and I hear the sound I dread hearing on the other side of my kitchen door- MEOW!!!!

Oh no,seriously? So I go out the front door( 5 feet away), lo and behold a Tabby cat ,she immediately runs in my house- lol Probably terrified by the sounds of bombs exploding. But I've got that nice little hallway with my fantastic 2nd door so I close the door and she's looking at me like'" Thank you kind human"

So happy to see a black collar with a tag when I picked her up and yippee ai aye - a phone number.I called the number and said ' Hi,my name is Kwik......" That's all I got out when she exclaims" Please tell me you have my cat"? ❤"Yes I do",I replied and again she cries out ecstatically ' can I come now".....Of course you can I told her and began to tell her where I live - sweet thing is just visiting her Mom with her cat and the cat slipped out the door when her Dad was coming in- they live in the very next bldg and told her where " Kwik' lives,I have no clue who they are but they know me,I probably know them by sight

I'm so happy for this young lady and the cat 'Sweety' because they just arrived in an unfamiliar place- she probably picked up my cats scents ,they lay all over the walk way on their leashes every morning ,right where she was sitting..... Isn't that a wonderful little story ? Agggh,I should have taken a photo!

I bought those pencil grips for my daughter years ago because her fingers where always red from holding the pencil. Not surprising that cats would be attracted to them.

Right? Lol,very true.....I sure don't want to see any cats anywhere,it always turns out to be a mission and I've got enough going on..... that was by far the easiest " rescue " of my life-though my heart sank to my feet it was quickly" happily ever after" and I did not have to do a thing.... I'd say " Sweetie" rescued herself by running in the right house instead of running away....❤

Double positive - I was hibernating from the cold the last few days but went to the gym early this morning and boy did it feel good. 🏃‍♀️ The best part about coming home was Seymour came to the door to greet me just like my sweet Carleton used to do. :lovecat3:
