My father died last week, so suffice to say it has been very difficult in more ways than one.

I am grateful however for the supportive people in my life that helped me through all this :redheartpump:
I’m so sorry for your loss. :hugs: Thinking of you as you negotiate the holiday season. :hugs: My mother passed in March so I’m a bit further in this journey than you. It’s hard and I’m glad you are surrounded by supportive people.

3years ago just before Christmas I found a little feral kitten playing with a leaf in my parking lot. I took him in and accidently all my cats were not locked up and they were all over him( actually Sami undoubtedly let them all out of the room, lol)
In all my years I never saw such an instant acceptance by 3 cats- Sami quickly grabbed him by the scruff and took him for himself, started grooming him and Bella took him from Sami and carried him off for herself- even Graycie showed interest and licked him on the head!

Never in my life would I ever expose my cats to a stray not checked out by the Vet but it all happened so fast and I was pretty crippled at the time, trying to retrieve this kitten from my cats who kept running away with him like a Momma cat

Well,I got him,put him in a carrier and off to the shelter we went- I had no intention of having a 4th cat- Christmas Eve I cried the entire day,I couldn't get that sweet little face out of my mind- my cats kept looking everywhere for him and Christmas Morning I called my friend around 7am( owns the shelter)shelter was closed & I said " Please meet me at the shelter,I want the little kitten"

Here's Max- our Christmas gift- so I guess today is his " Gotcha Day"

cassiopea cassiopea I'm truly sorry for your loss. It's so hard to lose a parent.

Kwik Kwik Happy Gotcha Day to Max!

------

J informed me that today is the best Christmas ever, so I'm calling it a success. She was so happy and excited about everything she got. Like literally the same excitement for the detangling sprays for her hair as she was for the kitchen set she and M got as a combined present. It makes my heart happy.

She understands enough to use her new favorite word "mine!" quite a bit, lol. She couldn't really understand the build up and waiting for Christmas and that there would be presents downstairs when she woke up, but she enjoyed things as she went along. Next year she'll definitely understand more.

I got to spend today in my pjs working on a 1,000 piece cat puzzle DS got me for Christmas. :cloud9:  :redheartpump: He was very sweet and thoughtful about gifts this year with his limited resources. This is just what I needed to relax with over break and decompress from the busy holiday schedule!

Mooch also wants to show you her very slobbery slice of pizza her boy (ds) got her for Christmas! I barely got her to look up so I could take this yesterday!

We received an e-mail from one of the local pet stores for a free welcome home package to anyone who adopted a pet in 2024 with proof of adoption. We went there today and got some really nice goodies for Seymour. :heartshape:
