Had Izzy to the vet yesterday for her left eye. I tend to not like change but on short notice she needed to see a different ( new) vet. Every year she has an issue with her asthma in the fall to one extent or the other and is perfectly fine the rest of year. She gets put on oral steroids and always ends up with a URI or eye infection.Instead of more pred this vet suggested increasing her asthma maintenance dose so now she is at least temporarily on two puffs twice a day instead of one twice a day. She has an eye ointment for the eye infection an a antibiotic as her nose does not look great either. This vet said going forward we might want to increase her maintenance dose in the fall has she is showing a pattern of having a significant issue at this time. I like this idea much better then having her on a low dose of pred every day which has been previously suggested as a possibility. She does not feel that daily pred is necessary or a good option at this point for Izzy. She also asked if a liquid antibiotic would be ok for Izzy. Most vets don't seem to ask that question. When I said no she went out of her way to find a solution good for Izzy. Also she has excellent communication skills, explains everything she wants to do and why and you have to do. Just shows getting a second set of eyes on an issue is a good thing. I was very impressed with her and hope she stays at the practice.

My father died last week, so suffice to say it has been very difficult in more ways than one.

I am grateful however for the supportive people in my life that helped me through all this :redheartpump:

Oh, I am so sorry for your loss... sounds trite to say that, but, my heart aches for you... My dad was on hospice the day before Christmas. Christmas Day was the last meal he ate.. He passed on 1/3.. so I really understand... (((Hugs)))). Good memories help.. try to focus on those... (((hugs)))
