We stopped at a new bakery a friend recommended to me. Not only were the pastries wonderful but the owner and employees couldn't have been nicer and the coffee was from a local roastery, also very good. We'll definitely be going back.

I got about 95% of my outside Christmas decor and lights up this weekend. :banana1: I need to do the bannister to the front steps and figure out something to hang on a shepherds hook I left out. I'm trying to reuse old pots and things. Last year I made "trees" for my front big planters by wrapping inexpensive greenery garland around upside down tomato cages and added lights and a gold star to each. I had used bricks to hold them down but they were still blowing in the wind. I got the idea to try fitting an old flower pot inside with rocks. After some trial and error I found my good hanging baskets fit inside pretty snuggly. So i dug out a hole and set the pot full of leftover river rocks in each planter. So far they are staying in place in the wind! And I didn't spend an extra dime.

vampiric_conure vampiric_conure Are you concerned about the long lifespan of birds like that? My friend's mom had one (which kind I don't know right now, he was pretty big and mostly green and used profanity ) and he has been passed through the family. His first owners were young guys who taught him to swear. I think he went to my friend's grandma first and then my friend's parents had him for years until they were moving across country so another cousin has him. He's got to be 30/35 by now but I think older because it was like 1995ish when we became friends. At least it seemed to be a family thing that they had plans for him living so long ya know? Very different from the first guys who had him. It sounds like a college lark. :disappointed:

You may want to consider getting a professional structural inspector -it would be well worth it. They go over everything from top to bottom with a fine tooth comb including roof, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, etc. In addition, they list what needs to be repaired now, what can wait a year or two and what is in good working condition.

But I'm so happy for your gf and you, all the best of luck in your new home! :goodluck: Graycie will have new places to explore and maybe you can even have a dedicated room for your spiders.😉

After a wretched weather day yesterday where you didn’t dare go out, today was calm and beautiful. I had tons of errands so to the bank, two department stores, grocery stores and Walmart. Aside from the great weather, two big positives. At Marshalls I find one box of my all time favorite candy - Harry and David chocolate covered cherries. I scoured the shelves hoping to find more but I apparently snatched the last box in the store. Second positive was at walmart. As I was leaving I noticed a coin reject tray on the coin counter was full. Scooped up a dollar something in change including this beautiful 124 year old Barber dime. Goes into my special coin collection.

This weekend is our annual White Elephant party at a close friend's house. We've been going for over 20 years and I always look forward to it. Now if DH and I can agree on a white elephant gift to bring. He had a great one in the garage but sold it so I'll have to scrounge around and find something else.:dunno:
