Yesterday afternoon I made a pot of soup and when I was removing the pot lid, saw a hairline crack running from the handle to the lid edge. I was really upset because this lid fits several pots and frying pans and is my most often used lid. I didn’t wash it, just set it aside. This morning I picked up to toss it and realized it wasn’t a hairline crack - it was an actual hair on the underside, stuck where the handle was attached and running to the edge. Pot lid crisis averted.

I did the exact same thing on my phone screen. I was so mad because I thought it was cracked, but nope...just a hair.

I would be mad too!! I kept several old lids when we got a new set of pots and pans because the new set has a bunch of those built-in-strainer lids but that makes them not fit tight.

I didn't get the right kind of stuffing for Thanksgiving in my grocery order this week so DS and I ran out first thing this morning. Looking through the various local grocery store apps I could tell they were probably out everywhere else unless you want Stove Top; which is ok for a Tuesday but not Thanksgiving where i add apples and cranberries! I almost gave up finding it but at the last minute I found the display up by the front door and managed to find exactly the one I wanted. :banana1: I'll be giving my mom the cornbread one for her to make with the turkey.

I think I only need perishables and whipped cream for Thanksgiving. My mom might be willing to grab the whipped cream when she gets the vanilla ice cream my stepdad has to have with his apple pie (that I make...has to be mine...best compliment a chef could get). I also got a salted caramel sauce to drizzle on top. Yummy yummy! :yummy:

In spite of the nasty weather today I went downtown to see the opera, The Marriage of Figaro. I've always wanted to see that opera and wasn't going to let the heavy wet snow and wind gusts up to 45 mph hold me back. I was so happy I went because the costumes and set design were wonderful. The opera singer who played the countess had a powerful and amazing voice. By the time it was over it had stopped snowing and turned to rain.

I already posted this in the 'other animals' thread, but I might (Big might) be adopting an African grey parrot. He's already had three owners and can't fly. It sounds like he needs a good home, and I'm sure I can offer him one. **Fingers, toes, and tail feathers crossed**
Wow, love African Greys. They can learn a lot of words. Hope you can adopt him.

DH and I got the outside Christmas lights up today. I still have a few things to set up out there; but I've got the lights on for the neighbors to enjoy with us.

Our inside Christmas trees are up and lit but undecorated. It's still wonderfully soothing. DS was my elf decorating other things while I took a nap today too.

Yesterday early evening I heard a big crack and sounded like it was coming from the attic. An hour or two later I hear another from the other side of the house. When you have an old house creaks and cracks are not good and the fear is always that something is breaking. Went to bed and heard another that felt like it could make the windows rattle, and I finally realized what I was hearing. Temps dropped dramatically yesterday evening, and I had been listening to a sound I love - water freezing and ice cracking in the gutters.

I got all my baking for Thanksgiving done at a reasonable hour so no burning the midnight oil before getting up early to cook.

I made 2 apple pies. One regular, one crumb topped. I also made one pumpkin pie and yeast rolls from scratch. DD has been wanting to learn how to knead dough so we went for it. They smell good to me!
