Yes, it's with the same company. Just another unit/section. Going from Property & Evidence to Crime Scene Investigations. Double dipping is allowed. A lot of people here do that. Retire from being a cop and come back in a non-sworn position. I will double check with HR and the retirement guy though but I'm pretty sure I'm good.Is the rehire with the same company? If do double check the pension plan documents to make sure it allows it. With some plans you would have to stop your pension if you were hired at the same company.
Even better news... husband reminded me that I had another retirement plan that pays out money so I had to refigure the yearly total.
Retirement plan #1 pays $35,118 per year
Retirement plan #2 pays $14,800 per year
Job pays $70,287 per year
Grand total would be $120,225.
It's funny because I told my boys about all this and they both said, "And Dad will still think we are poor." Mind you, my husband makes well over $100,000 a year, our house has been paid off for probably close to 10 years, we have zero debt, we live below our means, etc. We are by no mean poor but my husband and I are very frugal so it appears to our kids that we scrimp and save like we are. What's even funnier is that our boys follow our lead and are savers. I think one son (23) has $20,000 in his bank account and the other (20) has $10,000. They both spend what they need but aren't extravagant with the latest phones, fancy cars, etc. Pretty much sounds like their parents to me.
