My positive is that yesterday I was able to start cleaning up the yard for winter.
Winter sure is picky where you are. In Ottawa it doesn't care if the yard is messy, Mother Nature will send Jack Frost regardless:)

On the weekend I found a few kitty items at thrift stores still in the packaging.

Someone didn't keep their keepsake but I will be sure to keep it for them:)

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 In Canada the little figurines of Puss in Boots as well as The Cat and the Fiddle came in boxes of tea. They are likely from the 70s.

Hoping to go for a late lunch with Karen today. Always nice to see her in the middle of my work day. Have a great day / night everyone.

M maggiedemi If I lived near you I would gladly go with you to walk the trails. There's nothing like a walk in the woods...the sound of the wind in the trees, the smell of pine needles, the cries of the birds above. And if we are lucky we might see a deer, fox or a rabbit. Chipmunks, Squirrels too! I just love watching squirrels.
@foxxycat - Hey - SquirrelGirl! You two don't live that far apart, you know. Warren's about the mid-way point between you - a couple hours' drive each if you meet in the middle. You could car-spot at the Jerusalem trail head in Green Mountain National Forest, have breakfast together at the Sugar Bush (and I will vouch for their food, too), and hike just the Jerusalem Trail section, skipping Long Trail, Mount Ellen, Cutt's Peak and Nancy Hanks, hike the trail (just about two hours through the beautiful Autumn foliage, with no gnats, mosquitoes, Black Flies or Deer Fly this time of year) and you'd both be back home in time for dinner:

Hike Mount Ellen Warren Vermont 4000 footers 4,083 feet Hiking mt ellen

Come on, Shane Kent Shane Kent - tell M maggiedemi that there's nothing finer than being out in the woods!

Pawsitive: I just planned a day hike for to TCS members that I really like.

ExtraPawsitive: Bacon and waffles for breakfast. Dishes are washed, cats are fed, and I'm about to take my own advice on this beautiful Autumn day, and get out in the canoe one last time before it's buried under twenty feet of snow!

Shane Kent Shane Kent --I really like that ornament. Enjoy your romantic lunch date. :)

R raysmyheart --I can tell you prayed for me, thank you. :)

@foxxycat --Great song. Positive: Well now we're gonna have to take a road trip this year, it's all planned for us. I probably can't get away until the spring though...I forgot about deer, we see those everyday in our back field. Plus wild turkeys, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, a definite positive...

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --Thanks for planning our day trip for us. One of my brothers lives in Vermont...Have fun in the canoe...I heard this song on the radio this morning & it made me think of you. I'd never heard it before. I recognized the backing vocals at the end as one of the guys from Chicago.

M maggiedemi - Don't forget these guys - the harbingers of Summer:

We've dropped ten degrees here, and with the breeze blowing across the river, it's just a bit too chilly for a T-shirt. Turned 'round this side of the harbour, and paddled back.

Bonus Pawsitive (and a good reason to come back early): everyone wanted a bite of bacon this morning (except for Moo Shu, who simply grabbed one slice in her mouth and sped away like the Crazy Snowshoe she is, prompting everyone else to want a bite of bacon this morning), so I just cooked what was left of the pound. That leaves six slices for a grilled cheese sandwich!

Today is John's day off so I got to sleep in. I woke up with a voicemail from the pediatrician saying they had test results to share with me. He'd just gotten his iron test and complete blood count done. So, I called back with my heart in my throat because I figured if it was normal, they'd just send a letter but since they called, there must be something wrong. Nope, nothing wrong. Perfectly normal results. Every other doctor I've been to just sends a letter for normal results! So, my positive is that he's perfectly healthy. Now I just need to recover from my mini heart attack.

Shane Kent Shane Kent Nice acquisitions! How could someone do that? Their loss, your gain! And I like the white pair.
1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine Why are your raccoons cuter than ours? (Rhetorical, I assure you).
Alicia88 Alicia88 FTW!!! :yess:
mani mani FTW!!! I can't deal with being down. At ALL. Glad to hear you are up and running again! :hellocomputer:
Had problems with an online order of goodies but got it all cleared up via a telephonic "conference" with the nice folks at Drs. Foster & Smith. And the bonus "PAWSitive"? I got to listen to that cute WI accent that I love. :D

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - I feed them Cuteness Pills. Besides, Raccoonlettes are always cute! Zorro - their Mother - not quite so much:

That was the last time I saw her until this Spring. I wonder if she has a Snowbird Home down in the islands?

Pawsitive: the breeze calmed down enough to go out, pick up pine cones, and watch two Blue Jays bickering about something.

Missus Jay: "It's getting cold you know."

Mister Jay: "Yes, dear."

Missus Jay: "We should have a Snowbird place somewhere."

Mister Jay: "Yes, dear."

Missus Jay: "The Raccoons have a place in Barbados."

Mister Jay: "Yes, dear."

Missus Jay: "Well, why can't we buy a Winter home in Barbados?"

Mister Jay: "Because we're birds for crying out loud! We don't even have jobs! Who'd even hire a bird???"

Missus Jay: "Boo hoo hoo! You don't Love me! I'm going home to Mother!"

You have a Fat Wobble Cat there. That's PAWSitive, to me. Our Fat Wobble Cats often come to wash their hands in the sprinkling can I have on the verandah, leaving dirty water all over, and an upended sprinkling can.

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - You're still better off than my neighbours. Two years ago they'd feed the raccoons right at their patio table, and the raccoons lost all fear of them. In warm weather, lots of people here close just their screen doors at night, to allow nighttime breezes to circulate. One night at zero dark thirty, they awoke to the raccoons - who'd simply come through the screen door - sitting at their kitchen table, eating anything they found there.

Trust me on this advice: never try to bodily escort two raccoons out of your kitchen before they've eaten everything in sight.

Pawsitives: No raccoons in the kitchen - and it looks like the rain will hold off until nightfall at this point. :)

Did they put their bibs on before digging in to the cornflakes? :yummy::crackup:
Well, any of that precip you don't want, you know which direction to send it.:storm:

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 - Nope; I think those raccoons might have been related to The Goops. Remember The Goops?

Like you, I'll never complain about the rain, but if I had some extra, I'd FedEx it to ya.

Pawsitive; we just had a 40 minute downpour (outside) and broiled chicken (inside). Lotta Pawsitive, lip-lickin' kitties 'round these parts right now!

Shane Kent Shane Kent Yeah, the cat with the fish is special, I agree! I like the "dull finish" cat, too. I have a whole set of the cat with the fiddle, the dog and the moon, etc. They're those tiny ones you buy stuck on cards. They're probably pretty old -- 1970s? I'm guessing.
@1 bruce 1 GREAT blue kitten with apples video! I'm not scared of any produce except rutabuggers, which I think should be the only thing fed to bad people in prison (the REALLY BAD people. Not the not-so-bad people wrongfully convicted or those who didn't do anything very bad at all). Anything that tastes like DIRT should not be eaten IMHO.

Rutabagas are just a kind of turnip and some people, particularly those living in cold climates, really like them. To each his/her own. I don't like any kind of squashes.

There seems to be a lack of 'Pawsitives' again.
Please do remember the nature of this competition thread.

My Pawsitive is that my mower-man/gardener has just done a fabulous job and everything looks 'Springy' (since it's that time of year here). We've had a lot of rain and everything is so lush. I can't do the photo thing right now but will when time allows. :)

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine -- No, I'm not familiar with "The Goops". I don't know much about domestic pop culture, or mainstream things that a lot of people know, except what I've been exposed to through friends or what I've found for myself online. *Actually I prefer UPS* :yess:

mani mani I know the feeling! When my gardeners do a good job, I'm happy. Ditto, when we get RAIN!

segelkatt segelkatt I love turnips. I love ALL kinds of squashes and don't trust people who don't. :flail:

1CatOverTheLine 1CatOverTheLine --Demi loves racoons. He must think they are cats since they have a pointed face. He tries to play with them by sticking his arm under the garage door. I'm afraid one of them will rip it off. I think Zorro is cute, especially in the park bench winter scene. :)

R raysmyheart --Same here, I like making a schedule for the day.

Alicia88 Alicia88 --Glad Aedan's test results were fine, that's a relief. :)

segelkatt segelkatt & tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --I love rutabagas & turnips too. In fact, I don't think I ever met a vegetable I didn't like. Greens are my favorite though.

Positive: I got a lot of work done cleaning out the cellar today. I'm not sure if this is doable by one person, but I'm gonna give it my best try. :crossfingers:

Bonus Positive: Here's a country song that will break your heart. If it doesn't, then take your heart out of the freezer. :D

tarasgirl06 tarasgirl06 --Greens are a definite Positive, I love them all: Asparagus, Broccoli, Swiss Chard, Collard Greens, Kale, Spinach, Watercress, Bok Choy, Escarole, Peas. I tried Brussels Sprouts for the first time this year, and I like those too.

@Furballsmom --Where are you lately? Saving cats I suppose. I miss talking to you pal. Got any more nature pics? :)

Here's one of my favorite George Jones songs, another positive:
