Decided to take pix of the Dinosaurs today and Oy were Vortex and Charlie ever cranky! Redshift was his agreeable self, and gleefully waited for dinner to be served. Charlie was offended I even wanted to take pix of him. Vortex... well, she coulda lopped off my fingers at the elbow with a glare, LOL! But I got pix and I thought I'd share them with you folks :D.

Redshift, at a ripe 23 yrs old:

They are so cool!!
I don't know birds, but, Redshift has his beak closed and his feathers don't look (literally) ruffled like the other two. Is that typical of birds expressing how they're feeling?

Yep! Ruffled feathers are a sign of agitation or intense emotional investment. If their beaks are open and they're ruffled, they're NOT in a good mood. SLicked-backed feathers usually mean fear or uncertainty. If you can see eye pinning (where the pupil contracts and expands at will), expect a bite, especially if their feathers are ruffled and tail is fanned!

There's a bird rescue in the area called Gabriel's Foundation, mostly for parrots but they aren't necessarily exclusive and will help any bird that needs it if/when they can.

We were there a little while back during one of their fundraisers where they were selling donated items onsite, and WOW. The volume was seriously amazing!

Yeppers! The loudest birds by far were the cockatoos during our parrot club meetings. Followed by the screamed 'NO!!!!!' by Tigger, the green wing macaw. Enough to give one a headache! The cockatoos are beautiful birds but are by far the noisiest and most demanding.
