I bought my first Christmas gift today, a Kuhn Rikon jar opener for my son and gf. I had never heard anything about these until we were cleaning out my mom’s house and she had one that I took home. It is so amazingly easy to use and adjusts from tiny jars up through wide lid jars, I just love it. Sort of pricey at about $22 on Amazon but we’ll worth it for those of us with tiny and/or weak hands. My mom’s is on the right, the new one on the left. Slight differences in design but the opening mechanism is the same. You set it on your jar, twist the knob until it’s tight on the jar and then just turn the handle to open.

Yes! I have always struggled with jars because I have kid size hands and have probably bought half a dozen different opening tools to help. The adjustability plus the leverage you get from the long handle puts this one way way ahead of others.
