Hi everyone,
I posted up about a year ago about a bunch of cats I found living around my home I had just moved into. Well I just wanted to Thank everyone and this site for all there help and information and update what happened.
THANK YOU
So one turned out to be A female feral who gave birth in the drain across the road (the grey and white one in the cage) a stray male, and a pregnant female(who has since gave birth). I have since had them all neautered and registered into my name. I have socialised the strays, unfortuantly the feral female was too wild so I had to release her after I had her neautered, microchipped, vaccinated, wormed and flead but continue to feed her daily and have set her up a shelter in my yard to sleep in.
I was able to socialise her 3 month old kitten. So I currently have 6 cats in my home (one is going to a new home next week) and 1 around my yard that I still consider mine, even if she won't let me pat her.
It's funny because I was never a fan of cats and never planned of ever having pets. Now I could not imagine my life with out these little guys and I'm so glad I was able to give them a home.
Most amazing experience of my life.
I have also found a place that supports TNR hear in Australia and a vet that is happy to TNR them, so now in the future if I come across anymore I am 100% prepared on what to do.
So just a huge THANKYOU to everyone
I could not of done it with out you

Truly wonderful! You did am amazing job with the kitties and getting established with such great connections for the future. Bravo! You accomplished everything the kitties needed and you saved their lives. A kitty hero in our midst! Thank you and I know there are others who will be delighted to hear your story! M maggiedemi in particular. She had considered going to Australia and wondered about kitty rescues there. This will certainly make her smile! The photos are absolutely precious! I can see how they won you over. Who could resist those darlings? They won my heart too. :redheartpump::clap2:

Yes Australia is awful when it comes to strays and ferals, which is what made me so reluctant to call the rspca (the ferals would have been put down) and TNR is stupidly illegal hear so you have to do it on the sly with your own money. I found a fb group called 'Cats in need Australia (previously trap neauter release Australia)' recently and they are pro TNR and they do a lot of help in the community and they do a lot of it secretly so if your friends are interested she can check that out, im sure a lot of Australians would love to hear from her :)
Thank you so much, they are all so sweet. It's so funny because I have Two that sleep at my head (sometimes they groom my hair lol) one that sleeps cuddled next too me in my arm, and 3 that sleep ontop of me haha.
Thank you for your kind words

You are awesome! I understand about helping cats in secret. The laws here have been changing so that this is becoming an issue for many rescue groups and individual rescuers. They are going underground in counties near me. I started my rescues just before most of this happened. Even so, there were no programs available to assist me with 103 that needed TNR. I struggled to get all done and socialize for adoption but muddled through. Lol Then I started working to get TNR programs approved in my own county and was finally able, with the help of many others, to get that accomplished. Now I am considering moving near family but will be facing those same issues again if I go to their county. There is always hope though. You remind us all that we can find ways to get things done. Your kitties are shining examples of that. You have set a wonderful example for others to follow. You have blazed a trail towards change. No one should have to feel they must hide doing what is right and compassionate but that is all too common in many places. I will definitely tell my friends to read your threads! :goldstar::clap2::rock::redheartpump:

Everyone who is against TNR, or votes against it, should spend a day in their local shelter. I was at ours yesterday and it was heartbreaking. Cage after cage of kittens, temporary cages stacked in corners with more kittens. The shelter administartor told me people were bringing whole litters to the police station for them to bring in because they were told the shelter was overfull. I think it is the time when it should be a law to have all cats neutered/spayed when adopted. And just like licensing, a fine if they are noncompliant. How can people just let their cats have litter after litter and make it someone elses problem? My heart cries for all those little ones......

Bless you for taking care of the kittys in need. Your furry family is beautiful.
We first saw a little grey and white cat in the spring of 2016 jumping out of our apartment buildings dumpster and running away. When we pulled in we would talk to her (although at the time we didn't know she was a she) & eventually she would stop at a distance and look back before running away. Mid summer we spotted her and she looked terrible, mangy & sick then she disappeared for a few months. In Oct she reappeared looking well. We live on the second story in a quiet neighborhood with huge old trees & houses. Our back door faces an alley and we feed the squirrels & birds there. She was eating their bread one day so we started throwing down hot dogs & cooked chicken to her, finally buying a bag of cat food and feeding her on the stairs. We had food and water at the top of the stairs on our porch where over time she would let us sit & pet her. She acted like she wanted to come inside so we put some food and water just inside the door leaving it open so she wouldn't panic until one day, as I was going out, Mr possum was out side the door at the empty food bowl ready to come in too! We shut the door but let her out when she wanted to go. I got a litter pan and she took to it immediately. I gave her an anti-flea treatment. and took her to the vet to get a check up. APL had at some point trapped, spayed, clipped her ear & returned her to the neighborhood and turned her loose again (TNR). She had a slight fever & diarrhea so she got a shot and antibiotics. Vet said she was 1 or 2 yrs old. The weather was turning colder and she started staying inside more, sleeping overnight in a bed we got her and dropping in during the day. We don't have loose dogs or mean folks in the area so we were still letting her out in the morning or whenever she wanted, she would come when we whistled and called, until one day in January 2017 when she came in limping on her right back paw. She hasn't been out solo since that day. When the weather warmed up she really wanted to go out so we got a harness for her and we go with her. We found out later that there were several folks in the neighborhood feeding her but we were the ones she chose to take under her paw. Thank heavens she tested negative for FIV and FeLV. She is so sweet and smart and beautiful. She doesn't bite (except for love bites that don't break skin) or scratch or bother the house plants. It took several month for her name Gypsy to be decided on. Since she had roamed the neighborhood it just fit.

Thank you so much for helping them! That's one of the reasons that I decided not to move to Australia, because of the way they treat cats. They would have seized my cats for quarantine and I just don't trust them since my cats are former ferals. Plus it costs many thousands of dollars.

I just sent an email to the Australian Prime Minister about the treatment of feral cats. Maybe he will listen. It's worth a try.

For not being a cat person, you have done remarkably well. I guess we can call you one now! Bless you for doing what you did and still are willing to do, your soul will be the richer for it, and teh satisfaction you are getting is well deserved!
yeah it's truely been an amazing experience and an eye opener. I never realised how sweet they are, and such personalities lol
Thank you, oh yes the satisfaction is amazing, just watching them sleep in a warm bed or curl up next to the heater makes me so happy that they are not out in this cold (it's winter hear) and even Missy (the feral I TNR) has nice women wooden blankets in her little shelter out the front, omg I was so happy when I found her asleep in it the first night :)

Oh it's ridiculous isn't it, and it's so simple too because if they were all TNR it would be so much less of a problem! I just wish they would see that! That's great that you got it approved in your country, I really hope we can get it hear one day
Thank you and good luck with your move if you do
