But Mama is a tortie, isn't she?
Yes. We are networking a home for her now. We're happy to pay for her shots and a spay but we have a real concern about Mook accepting an adult and obviously alpha cat into our home. I have been thinking of a notice at the senior center. I'd even be willing to donate some food every month. She would make an excellent companion animal. All of this is really on the fly. Nothing we were planning. There had been discussion of adopting a younger cat so Mercy would have something to pester that wanted to be pestered. They play but Mook just isn't interested in hours of nonsense. Just taking things one day at a time right now.

Sounds like all is going well [emoji]128149[/emoji]

I totally feel you regarding failed adulting lol ;)

Everything will work out the way it needs to. You are a warrior for all that are in your care and this precious family will be loved and cared for whether in your home or another. :hugs:

Is your community on Nextdoor.com? It's a great networking site that is only for your particular neighborhood/community. I often see postings about missing and found animals and I've seen postings from people looking for homes for pets. Just a thought for options to get the word out about Tera.

I think LotsOfFur LotsOfFur put it well: everything will work out the way it needs to.

Please give Tera and the babies some extra love from me here in the PNW [emoji]10084[/emoji]️

What a beautiful girl and little babies, and what a heartbreaking story.  Many thanks to you for putting your kindness into action on behalf of this lovely little family and may mom and her surviving babies find the loving, forever homes every cat and kitten so deserves in due time.

I might have got the same kitten twice in this set of photos. They look alike. I'll have to do them on separate uploads. They are round and warm and clean and active. And I love the pictures of Tera being a mom. Oh and some tai porn for @Mamanyt1953

FACETHUD!  Oh, what a wonderfully wodgy bit of wonderful!  And the TOESIES!  I am assuming those toes have little cotton-candy jelly beans?  I'm almost as nuts about the jelly beans as i am the tails.

That cat is so happy and content with her family.  This is a joy to see, after the initial heartbreak.

If the mama is eating so many cans of FF each day, maybe some KMR would be helpful!

I admit I'm jealous of you getting to take care of new babies.  Where I live, they have banned even bird feeding because the "people" who live here - in these woods - are afraid of "wild" animals like birds and raccoons and such.  I think they'd be better suited to living in a high rise with concrete all around.  They'd never tolerate a mama cat trying to give birth and raise her young.  At least one of them is a cat hater whom I think made our neighborhood stray Timmy go missing years ago.  Anyway, I live vicariously thorough the rest of you who get to help animals the way I wish I could. It sounds like you are doing a great job with these little ones and mama.  Torties must have your address or something!

Bless you for loving these beautiful little souls. it is a coincidence that I re-homed a stray on Wednesday. Mom loves her new cat, they are best friends already.
Oh how wonderful. I believe that communities like this inspire. Thank you for saving a life. Those strays so many tossed out pets have value.

And they are tucked in for the night. I gave Tera her big fluffy pillow and made a nest for the babies in it. She loves that pillow. I have the crate well insulated but positioned so I can simply drag it inside of I have to. We get violent storms and I'll just have to deal with the mayhem if need be. I'll make it work somehow. Luckily the weather is supposed to be pretty moderate for the next few weeks.

They look great. They do seem to be growing at a rate of knots, don't they?

Do you mean the best room temperature for kittens or what should their body temperature be?

As far as I know kitten's body temp is slightly lower that that of an adult cat. They're around 97 when they're born, adult cats are around 101.

This article tells you about room temp for adult cats.

No I know about a cats temp. I was curious about how warm their environment should be. I just checked on mom and babies. She keeps them right next to her they were all really cozy. I know the babies can't regulate. I carried Kitten in my pocket , Same with Mook. I never really thought about the actual temp. It was 82 in the outdoor cage today. I want to make sure they aren't too hot.

With only two kittens they are getting plenty to eat. Tummies are always round.  You know when we hand raised Kitten and then Mook I didn't know squat about cats and just made it up as I went along. When we finally got internet it was dial up and just awful. Now I feel like I'm doing everything wrong.

And we have a Tera and two babies this morning. I think it might be time to get serious about giving them names. I even ordered some of the KMR second stages for later. And for an hour nap while they settle into their day cage.

So far, I'd say you're doing everything right.  Mama and babies are thriving.  LOVE the new pictures, although there is only one tail visible, and I had to squint to find that one.  You are forgiven

Ok, Tera seems happier in the SMALLER crate than the big pen. Maybe she likes her babies closer ?  I cleaned those litter boxes. If I didn't know better I'd think we had a St Bernard. Well we know all the plumbing is working.

I want to bring them in so badly but there seems to be a general air of acceptance between Mook and Tera.

It would be so much easier to take the babies and bottle feed them and get Tera fixed. I do understand the benefits of them not only nursing but she is such an attentive mother and I can't break her heart.

September 06,2016, I can see a bit of eye peeking through.

One seems to have a more pronounced W on it's head. They are amazingly mobile. Mom is on can 5 of FF and I seem to have wiggled over the hump of self doubt in doing this. Mom is fine with me handling them.

Oh just look at those darling nuggets of Tera's [emoji]10084[/emoji]️[emoji]10084[/emoji]️[emoji]10084[/emoji]️
They look super healthy and strong. You are Tera are doing such a great job nurturing them.

Do you think Mook would tolerate Tera and the babies inside if you had them in a separate room that Mook could not get in and Tera could not get out?
