I could not agree more. So long as abusers, whether owners or vets, get nothing but a slap on the wrist, this will continue. We need laws in ALL states, and at the Federal level that send a clear message...THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE!
Been yelling, tweeting, and posting this and will never stop as long as I am cognizant and have a device to work on.I could not agree more. People would argue that prisons are full enough I counter that with the idea that the association between animal cruelty and other criminal behavior is established and that had many monsters been imprisoned and kept there or released on strict probation there might have been less human carnage. Most serial killers have a history of animal abuse as children and young adults. It's a tell tale sign something is wrong. However our criminal justice system seems content to wait until the perpetrator of all kinds of horrors has a long list of crimes and innocent victims before they act. Even then prison terms no longer keep these people out of the general population as they are released for time served, probation and good behavior. It's not PC but some humans aren't fit to live with other humans and until we accept that this cycle of abuse and innocent human and animal victims will continue.I could not agree more. Agree 100%, of course. A lot of people who are in prison are not guilty of a crime, and many, many people who are guilty of many crimes are walking the streets. Also, many who have been convicted of committing terrible crimes are released on technicalities, etc. So it's a very dangerous society, all in all. The reasons are complex and many, but personally, it's changed my life drastically, from being very social and very involved in society to the opposite. I don't think it's a healthy way to live, but it's for self-preservation.People would argue that prisons are full enough I counter that with the idea that the association between animal cruelty and other criminal behavior is established and that had many monsters been imprisoned and kept there or released on strict probation there might have been less human carnage. I am absolutely behind you on this. Get the violent guys (whether towards humans OR animals) off the streets, and let some of those serving long terms for, oh, say, possession of marijuana out. At least the stoners will just sit in their living rooms getting high and eating junk food. It's not PC but some humans aren't fit to live with other humans and until we accept that this cycle of abuse and innocent human and animal victims will continue.
And smoking pot in the same house as their small children.I am absolutely behind you on this. THAT is no more acceptible than getting drunk in front of your children...although generally far less noisy and with less chance of violence. But STILL not accceptible. And smoking pot in the same house as their small children.
The drug marijuana has never been my issue. It's no more or less destructive when used by an addict than alcohol it's been the idea that pot smokers are just these quiet little harmless beings when they are often just as bad as anyone with an addiction and the failure of our society to even deal with drunks who kill while driving in a harsh and punitive way that makes the very idea of doing so scary. Impaired behavior is impaired behavior. I watched someone's child have his life and ability to function at school ruined by his pot smoking parent. I've also seen people do it to their cats and dogs. I consider that abuse. I use cbd oil from hemp and it works and there is no THC. A lot of people use the medicinal thing as a reason to get stoned much as opiates are misused. And now back to cats.THAT is no more acceptible than getting drunk in front of your children...although generally far less noisy and with less chance of violence. But STILL not accceptible.
The truth is most people in prison are guilty of a crime. The trouble is they are in short term or many have deferred sentences with probation and they simply reoffend. I supported the three strikes and your out laws. They were for felonies and it was a eye into the anti social behavior many people engage in. It's a myth that prisons are full of innocent victims. I don't care if you grew up in a crime infested neighborhood there are plenty of examples of people who made the choice not to be like that. We have places in Albuquerque you don't go. I find that ridiculous when a friend closes a long time business because of the cities idiotic catch and release policy. When your customers won't come anymore because it's not safe to park the car and walk to your door there are real problems. I don't think prison is the first answer to culling crime but I'm fine with the walking sub humans who see a potential victim in everyone being locked up for life.Agree 100%, of course. I don't have much confidence in the human species, but I always have hope.
