One of my newly inside only former ferals has tapeworms. I am sure which one because Elise is the one who won't use the conventional litter box but does use an old photocopy paper box top with a dog pee pad inside. My vet is only filling prescriptions and seeing emergencies. All I have ever done for tapeworms is take the animal in question to the vet for a shot, so I am sort of at a loss. I did see products mentioned on TCS in other posts...Profender, Valu Cat, etc. Has anyone used them with success and safety and are they prescriptions or does it depend on where you live or where you purchase them?

I've used Tapeworm Tabs (they used to be Tradewinds but now I think they're Bayer) from TSC. They work fine, same stuff the vet has.

You can look online or in pet stores, the active ingredient for tapeworms is Praziquantel, so whatever brand just make sure that is the main ingredient.
