Hi thanks for noticing.  I am proud to say he gained over 1 pound. He is a small cat, so now, he looks plumper and filled out.  The vet was amazed at the gain, as he was so thin his bones could be felt in his body frame when I adopted him.

I am also so grateful that with lots of love, kisses and hugs, and being very diligent  with his food, he has become an extremely healthy and playful cat.  He cannot eat anything that is chunky, especially with gravey added.  Now,  he went from a cat that just walked around, to a cat that wants to play all the time.  He makes up games to attack me with.  He is so funny.  I say, where is Sushi, and he runs through his cat tunnels at lightening speed and jumps up in the air to bite my arm.  I am his toy, and  the only thing he will play with so I try to play with him at least 3x a day before I leave for work and then when I come home.  He is adorable. Just can't stop kissing him.

I bought him 4 boxes put together on one room, and two boxes put together  in my indoor terrace where I have my computer.  He sleeps everywhere, in and on top of his boxes, on the floors, bed, couch, rocking chair,  bedroom chair, on top of all kinds of weird places.

His only problem is they discovered that his kidneys have not fully formed and are smaller than they should be for his size so my vet and a cat kidney specialist feel he will eventually have kidney failure so I am practicing prevention as long as I can now.  He lives on Fancy Feast Classic Pate's, and Renal Dry food for Kidneys - He is really looking good. No treats.  I watch his portions as well and I try to make sure he drinks from his fountain.

All in all, I do feel he has a quality life with me.  He is a cat that  needs peace and quiet no children or other animals.  I live a quiet life and he seems so content.

He freaks out at the vet so I can't being him there anymore.  Now, she comes to my apartment for routine visits, of course, unless for an emergency.  She agreed he goes through a real trauma when he is there, hearing the animals and smelling dogs and cats.  He hisses and growls and spits, just being there.  He made sounds I have never heard before. It was quite upsetting  It drains him totally, and when I bring him home, it literally took him over 6 hours to recover.  He looked like a train hit him.  I can't do that to him.  He is too delicate.

Anyway my vet is wonderful and working with me.  I got him through her and she is overjoyed to see his  progress.

I did want to adopt another special needs cat, a cat with a blind eye, but Sushi cannot tolerate any animals and it is not worth putting him through any stress which could seriously damage him.

Love to all

Joyce

Awww, may you and Sushi be many times blessed with health and happiness!  If and when there are kidney issues, your vet can teach you how to administer Sub-Q fluids.  This can be a really important thing to learn when you have a kidney cat.   Hopefully that will be a long way off.
