A Cerenia injection only lasts about 24 hours, so unless they gave you pills to administer at home for nausea/vomiting, the 'slobbering' may be due to him feeling nauseous. Most antibiotics are hard on the stomach, so keeping food in the stomach helps with that aspect to a degree.

However, the drooling may be related to ear infection, or even the 'possible' neurological issue. It is true that some inner ear infections may need to be treated with antibiotics for 6 - 12 weeks. A lot of times, medicated ear drops are used in tandem with oral antibiotics. There also can be pain related to an inner ear infection, and maybe that is attributing to the drooling too.
It's true! There are so many things he's experiencing that could explain it. I feel like the antibiotics made it much worse. He's been prescribed 50mg x2 day of clindamycin which I've read is very high especially for his 7.8 lbs body weight. I called to the vet hospital to ask if this dose is accurate/should be modified.

The standard dosage is 10mg/kg every 12 hours. 1 kg = 2.2 lbs, so, it would come out to about 35mg for him. Can't hurt to call and ask.

Hi everyone. Just an update about Mason. Sadly, with everything else he has going on today we found out he has oral squamous cell carcinoma. We chose not to do a biopsy to confirm because of all his health issues that put him as high risk. I'm completely shattered and feel like a shell of a person right now. This past month I did everything I could to help him and I've lost the battle. I tried so hard. I put him through so much. I can't even look at his little face and watch his suffer. I think I'll be stepping away but thank you all for the support and help to date

I am very sorry to read this. Please remember that we are here for you if you need to talk or want to let us know what is going on.

I had a cat several years ago, Matilde, who had oral SCC. We did the biopsy, which is how I knew what it was conclusively, but the biopsy itself was exceptionally painful for her and I was not able to even bring her home again.
