As I'm sure a few of you know I have two cats; one orange tabby and one mix coloured tabby. Both are rescues and I love them dearly. Atari is almost 5 years old now ad Fawkes is just a little over 2.
My most recent issue with them has been the smell coming form the litter boxes. We have switched the cats food brands to better quality cat foods (Fancy Feast, Max Cat, and Blue Wilderness). We have to keep a variety in the house or our picky cat Fawkes will sometimes refuse to eat her food, usually when she's been fed the same brand more than three times in a row. Thanks to the change in cat foods their poop stinks to high hell and I've tried just about everything to get the stink down to a level where I can breath after they go to the bathroom. The litters are cleaned every two days, we're using a clumping cat litter we get from Costco called Quali-Cat. I've tried putting baking soda in with their litter, I've tried special pet made deodorizers that slot in the top of their litter box, I've changed cat litters I don't know how many times, so far nothings worked. My biggest issue with my cats is that they don't 'cover' their poop with the litter like normal cats do, they just scratch the walls of the litter box and run off leaving the poop to air dry and stink up the entire house.
Has anyone here had any luck with odor control? Anything you'd recommend I try? Cat litter brands you found work well? I'd like my house to not smell like cat poop anymore.
