Our little boy had a full surgical livery biopsy and is back home today. The vet said that he should be fine going up and down our stairs, but when I had my female cat spayed I was told she should avoid them. My gut says we need to block the stairs. Thoughts?

Poor guy, I hope his biopsy comes back okay. As far as the stairs, I would do whatever you feel is best. Every cat is a bit different in activity level and he may be wanting to creep up once a day or tear up and down them multiple times, so your call. But he may not be happy with being restricted or kept away from family if he usually sleeps upstairs with his people and he may really need that comfort.

I would say watch him on the stairs. As blocking them could result in him trying to jump over the block and cause more harm than him walking up and down the stairs would.
