Stages of healing

Hi all, I brought my cat to the vet Thursday and he got antibiotic shot and dextamosone which lasted about 48 hours. He also gave me liquid prednisolone which I haven't administrated yet since giving him a steroid makes me nervous. I am also going to call to make an appointment tomorrow with the vet dermatologist. (Also if I do get an appointment with them tomorrow they may have something better than this)

Does this look like it's healing and part of the process or does it more look like he's still scratching? I know I can't watch him 24/7 but I haven't seen him scratch there.

The wound seems fresh, so it might be that he's still scratching.
But I don't know where you were starting from, maybe I lost another thread/photo?

I imagine that an e-collar is not an option here.

I started giving him the steroid today, since I can't vet dermatologists are so busy, I have an appointment for 10/12

Ok, but was the wound worse than this when you thought to take him to the vet?

It is hard to say, it may be about the same. He is also on the antibiotic shot which lasts 10 days. Vet also suggest vetricyn as well.. My cat is going to hate me!

Could you put an e-collar on him?

Your cat isn't going to hate you, he knows you are doing the best for him, he'll be thankful.

Just sharing an update since putting the cone of shame on this past Wednesday I have some progress pics. His cut is looking much much better. Thanks for all for suggestions!
