Hi everyone, my dear sweet boy is nearly 6 years old and I have noticed when I brush him the fur along his spine twitches and raises up like a Mohawk! He very much enjoys being brushed to the point he will brush himself if I told the brush out so I know he is not in pain. I've seeked veterinary advice and have been told that because He had fleas almost 3 years ago his skin and fur could still be recovering and the oils from his skin may not be distributing properly. I've been told just to give him some fatty fish and it should improve but this fur thing has only started recently. Has anyone ever encountered anything like this before?

Hi! Welcome!!

I'm not completely sure, but this sounds like static electricity.

Try dampening his fur lightly with a cloth or paper towel before and during brushing sessions. You don't want his fur wet because then the brush will pull too much, so just damp to avoid the static charge buildup.
