I'm getting ready to have my two 7month old kitty's spayed and neutered. It has been a LONNNNNNG time since I've had kitty's and dealt with this. I don't recall back when I did go through this having been given the option for them to have a catheter/IV fluids.

I know the procedure on the male is quick. I know the procedure on the female is a little longer but still quick. I'm considering it for the female, I don't think the male will need it.

What I would like to know is did you or would you pay the extra for the catheter / IV fluid? Your thoughts.
FYI the Humane Society is doing the work!

Yes I'm definitely doing the after care meds for them. So you don't think the male needs it? Did you get it for your cats?

I took mine to the vet and it has been 16 years. Options weren’t even given. I do know a neuter takes less than 5 minutes, so I would be comfortable going without if money is an issue. If not, then go for the gold standard.
