So we are back to vomiting again :sigh: Once yesterday and again a little while ago. About 24 hours in between. A fair amount of hair in it this time. Probably will have to call the IM vet Monday and get their thoughts. She went a couple of weeks with no vomiting at all too.

Oh man, sorry to hear that. Is she still eating the high fiber food? You'd think that would help her poop out the hairballs instead of vomiting.

Yes, she's still eating the fiber food. We had one more vomit that happened after she pooped. I think she may have gotten a little backed up this weekend. Going on 40ish hours with no vomiting and she produced 2 large poops today, so hopefully we are back on track! Held off on calling vet for now since her last vomit was 4am on Sunday.

Yeah, those hairballs can really mess with their stomach. My cats are losing their winter coats and they hacked up some hairballs this week.

:(3 vomits in a row tonight. Definitely calling IM vet in the AM. There is hair in the vomit, but not what I would consider a hairball. I don't know what to make of this unless that growth is getting larger. It's hasn't even been 2 weeks since she saw the IM vet. They thought she'd be good for a few months at least :/

IDK how I managed to miss this thread but I've been there and I hope things improve.
FWIW, a lot of my cats that have no real gastro issues have been hoarking up piles of clear liquid with hair. Shedding season and all, self grooming and getting a LOT of hair. One of my boys tonight ate, hopped into his favorite resting spot, took a nice bath, and 30 minutes later shot out a huge pile of food/hair/spit. I know your kitty has had issues but sometimes these non-hair ball hair-balls are scary but not life threatening. Definitely take her to the vet but do your best not to panic. I'm a crap one to say so as one of ours has been a constant source of worry for us but sometimes just knowing other people have BTDT can help, and know what your emotional exhaustion feels like from first hand experience.
Hang in there =)

1 bruce 1 1 bruce 1 thank you for letting me know you too have been experiencing vomiting with your kitties. This girl has been through the wringer-asthma, tons of teeth removed, cryptococcus leading to an eye being removed and now this recent problem, but like you said, trying not to panic. She vomited again overnight getting back into the old pattern that set off this whole episode. Her IM vet is out today, but the tech at the practice recommended not doing anything on the emergency side of the practice as it will just be a repeat of past diagnostics. The IM vet will be in tomorrow. They recommended Cerenia for now and watch for signs of distress. She seems perfectly fine. I'm wondering now if it is still continuing to be poop related as about 75% of these most recent episodes have been within a half hour before or after a productive litter box visit.

Poor girl. I didn't remember about the eye being removed. Yeah, my cats are losing their winter coats and having more hairball pukes than normal. I've got some hairball food that I'm going to try that is higher in fiber.

It's been a while. How is she doing?
Hi! I missed this alert in my email! She is doing pretty well. No vomiting over the past week-yay! She's pooping consistently twice a day still. Yesterday we had a bonus 3rd poop lol.
I did find a lump or swelling on the back of her head near the neck yesterday. It feels like it's movable. I don't see any cuts or scrapes and it doesn't seem to bother her. I think I'll get it checked out all things considered though. She has a benign fatty thing on her tummy that she's had for years. Hopefully this is the same thing. just want to make sure it's not an abscess or lymph node or anything like that with the holiday weekend coming up.

just an update the vet aspirated this thing and got red blood cells and fat cells out of it, so she feels pretty confident it is a benign fatty growth.

That's great. I feel stupid asking this after all this time, but what is your cat's name? :)

Thanks!! Her name is KeKe. I think I've always referred to her as "my kitty" actually! She was a little off this weekend and didn't want to eat much yesterday. She seems a little perkier today, but if her appetite doesn't pick up Ill give the vet a ring. She hasn't thrown up in almost a month now (hopefully I didn't jinx her)!

Hi! Knock on wood she is still doing well! Pooping regularly and one single vomiting episode a couple of weeks ago. I am going to have that lump looked at again this week as I think it's bigger. Hopefully I'm just being over cautious!!

Hi! She is holding steady. She had several aspirations of her lumps on her neck, and the surgeon is pretty confident they are all fatty lumps. A total excision is the only way to know for sure, but he said if it was his cat, he would watch and wait for a bit.
On the "poop front" she is doing great! I'm thinking of trying to taper her meds down a little bit more, but the last time I did she started backing up again. She did vomit last week, but I dropped a bag of silvervine and catnip and my little piggy pants gobbled it up before I could clean it up and gave herself an upset tummy!
So all and all she is doing really well!

Recheck update-

Constipation is doing ok still. Vet said it looks like she could be backing up, so upping lactulose a bit. She had an ultrasound to recheck the growth in her duodenum. That, along with the lump in her neck, have changed minimally so we are continuing to monitor those. Unfortunately, the internal vet said she heard an abnormal heartbeat and thought it could be the beginning of CHF. So, we are going to cardiology in a few days to get her worked up for that. She just had a routine physical and the vet that performed that heard nothing of the sort. I'm hoping it was just a stress reaction from her 16 hour fast she had to do and the chaotic environment at the specialist today :(

Thanks for the update on KeKe. Let's hope that it was just from stress and nothing serious. Let us know what happens at cardiology when you get the chance. :crossfingers:
