how can i tell whether or not the kitten likes me or is comfortable with being handled?
he's now nearly three weeks old and i'm handling him when ever i get the chance. just picking him up and letting him sleep on my lap or in the crook of my arm when i watch tv or read. if i put him on the bed he'll crawl onto my lap and snuggle down.
but sometimes he does tiny no-stop silent miaows and i dont know what to do! should i put him back in the box? am i scaring him? usually he quietens down after a while if i talk softy to him and he'll fall asleep.
also should i worry about him being lonely? he's the only kitten in his litter and whilst Maverick is a very good mummy she doesnt like to spend more time than she has to with him (she has a very busy schedule what with all the fur mice that need tackling and the ping pong balls that need chasing. not to mention her brand new scratching post...)
when we got Maverick she hadnt really been handled from birth and is still a little mean. not only that but she has only bonded with two people. i just dont want to make the same mistakes and want the new kitten to grow up well rounded.
