Thank you. I had a really bad night last night. This is very unhealthy when it becomes Chronic. Thank you for your prayers--- I really need them! I hope you found those articles very informative. I really want to get to the root of my sleep problems. I will keep plowing away until, I can finally get decent rest.😴 I will also keep sharing things I hope Is helpful. This thread is so needed. Thanks for putting it up.🙂
I’m very sorry. Yes, definitely unhealthy. Of course! I did, thank you.
Yes, don’t give up!

One thing that helped me- doesn’t stop my insomnia, but at least makes things more comfortable- is a weighted blanket. They can get pricey, but I definitely enjoy having one. And I’m glad you appreciate having this thread. I didn’t realize how many people struggle with not sleeping. I’m glad we have a place to all relate to and encourage one another.

Thanks for the tip, I will look into it. I am so sick of this problem. It's got to get better soon. I am holding on.

I know. Sometimes it’s so hard. You and everyone else here who struggle with sleep are continuing to be in my prayers. And of course, anytime. It doesn’t work for everyone, but If it give you sleep, I think it’s worth the money.

I sleeped a bit better last night. I changed my pillow and that did help a little. I don't think there is just one cause to my sleep problems, so I will keep changing things around. I also started taking Maca again for hormone balance and it may have helped as well.

I hope your sleep is improving. I hope you find the root cause to your sleep issues. One of the most frustration things in the world is lying in bed and you just can't doze off. As I said before, I really envy the sleep I got when I was younger. As we grow older our bodies are not so forgiving as it use to be (You may feel the ill effects of eating the wrong foods, drinking an extra cup of coffee or tea, staying up late, etc.) I think that all of us who are over the age of 35 needs to understand our bodies are changing and see what agrees with us or doesn't any more. Not to say that younger people don't have bad bouts with not getting sleep, but in my opinion it is worse when you get older. Hang in there.🙂

Oh I’m so happy to hear that!!!! I hope that you continue to get better sleep.

Yeah. I’ve dealt with sleep problems literally my entire life.
I remember being very, very little and being up for hours while everyone else is asleep. (That’s still the case honestly.)

I’m young, but I really hope that it doesn’t worsen as I age. I can’t target the root of my sleep problems either. :(

Thank you. You hang in there too.

Maybe you should get Hormonal and Vitamin Profile testing and see if you are experiencing imbalances there. Perhaps you can naturally correct any imbalances. I know that you are dealing with something that may be a big contributer to your sleep problems. I hope you can find natural remedies for that as well.

Hang in there. You are trying to get to the bottom of this issue and you will sooner or later. 🤗

Yeah. I’ve been interested in getting a sleep study or something done for a while. That might be a good idea to pursue.
You too!!! :redheartpump:

Is there any source of light that comes into your bedroom at all? That is being implicated more and more in sleep disturbances. As for the hormonal and nutritional profile, that would be a good idea. Also have cortisol levels checked. It is a very easy all day test you do at home and then bring to a place like Quest or LabCorp. You might find that instead of cortisol leveling down at night, it either goes up or is not going down as it should.

My source of light is very limited, and I try to put mild lighting on an hour or two before bed. That is all very useful info, thank you. I will try to look into it.

How has everyone else been doing?

I locked the cats out of the bedroom last night and slept like a baby all night. I miss having them sleep with me, but that's better than having Mingo wake me up at 4:30.
I’m so glad you slept!!! :woohoo:
I know that feeling. When Willow was a kitten, I had to lock her out of my room at night because I couldn’t have her jumping on me and playing with me and purring in my ear and crunching on her food. I felt really bad about it, but it was necessary.

My sleep has been touch and go. I had one pretty decent night's sleep (it may have been 6 hours which is miraculous for me). I will be going on a 5 day detox of green juice and eattibg simple food preparing to go on my diet. I will also take Milk Thistle for liver cleanse since I want to be in good shape for the diet. An idea popped in my head, what if the Liver had something to do with the Insomia I am experiencing. I read up about it and it turns out Fatty Liver Disease as well as other liver ailments CAN mess with how your liver produces melatonin (the sleep hormone). For me, a life long junk food junkie, this is an eye opener. Here is an article on the topic. Healthfully

I am thinking of everything that might cause insomia. I noticed that I stay indoors through out most of the day and was wondering if not being exposed to enough natural light in the day plays any factor in my insomia? Also at night, I have to watch the lighting in the house (not too much or too bright). It is best to dim everything down as much as you can, so your body melatonin process is ramped up.

Anyway, just some of my thoughts, I like to put out there. If this helps anyone, I would be very happy. Insomia is no joke, believe me I know.🙂

I hope that detox helps! Yes, I try to dim everything down too. Thank you so much for the information. I’m glad that you were at least able to get one good nights sleep. Prayers and hugs 🤗

Dr. Andrew Weil says to actually put on sunglasses in the house for about 2 hours before bedtime as it relaxes your brain. I don't do that and it might take some adjustment but it might also help.
They have these blue filter glasses that sell on Amazon and elsewhere. Some people swears it works. I have the blue light filter on on my phone and I can't say it works. I also tried night mode with not much of a result. I am a bad insomiac , so these things might work for others, but not for me

Anyway, it is worth a try for anyone interested. Thanks for mentioning it. Also Congrats on becoming a Forum helper. You are very helpful on this site, so I am not surprised. 🙂

I have my phone on night mode due to a very early eye problem but I am not sure that it does anything either. I asked my ophthalmologist (retina and macula specialist) about the blue light glasses and he said that in his opinion nothing is proven one way or another but that he had no objection to his patients using them and that they could not hurt anything.

Thanks for the good thoughts! I enjoy being here and getting to know everyone.

Your welcome.

Yeah, I heard the same-- there is no evidence that it works, but if anyone wants to give it a try these glasses are not expensive.

I wish we all can get to the root to our sleep problems and find what works for us. Sleep is vital to our health, so we can't just accept our sleep problems. We have to fight for our sleep. It is a daily battle.🙂

Interesting. I wonder if that has the same effect as dimming all lights.
