I've had you on my mind for the last several days, so I thought I'd just tell you! Hoping you and Sombra beauty are enjoying the Autumn and looking forward to a lovely Winter season, staying cool and comfortable. What a beautiful view you have!

I can’t believe I let this thread slip away from me! Anyone in the mood for a few spider shots?

Amazing spider web. I’ve never seen one like it.

And here’s the little spinner.

And then I saw this spider walking along a hand railing. It looks huge, but it’s only the size of my thumbnail. According to my iPhone, it’s a jumping spider, Phidippus putnami. Thankfully it didn’t jump at me!

Jumping spiders are super cool!

They are one of the few kinds of spiders that hunt by sight instead of by weaving webs. They are one of the few spiders that have good vision, as well. Most spiders are extremely nearsighted and can see little more than a blur at long ranges.

Jumping spiders are thought to have the ability to build a 3-dimensional map of their surroundings in their brains and use that information to calculate when, where and how to jump from place to place in order to capture their prey.

If you look at a jumping spider, up close, they are one of the few kinds of spiders that I'd say are cute looking! ;)

tabbytom tabbytom "Whatcha doin', hooman? Got any bugs?" What a cute lil' arachnid!
Glad to see some fellow spider aficionados here. I was glad to see my friendly beautiful black lady early this week when I was watering by the north hedge. She came down to see what was going on and promptly went right back up. I hadn't seen her for quite awhile so I was relieved to see her this time. There are a lot of little spiders, variety unknown to me, busily spinning and presumably eating around here. No pix as I don't take my phone out when watering, though.

Much better photos than mine, tabbytom tabbytom ! iPhones are a bit limited.

Spiders are very cool, but I’m glad they’re normally not very big. :)
