Should I stick away from some types of handsoaps with my cat?

So could be overthinkings this. Could it be possible that I'm causing some irritation with my cat every time I use a dial scented lavendar and jasmine hand soap? Could that be a possibility? Would it be safer to throw it out and start using a plain Dove bar of soap every time I wash my hands?

Unscented soap would be best. Cats are sensitive to fragrances.

Dove is fine.

I suppose you could wear food handling gloves (different kind from latex / nitrile / medical gloves) when hand feeding your cat if you're really worried about soap residue possibly affecting your cat.

Okay, I don't want to get too wasteful with gloves, especially in this pandemic when there is a shortage, especially if you think the dove brand I linked is fine. Thanks!

As an aquarium keeper, this comes up fairly often. As long as you rinse very well, any kind of hand soap is fine. If it leaves a scent after thorough rinsing the cat may not want to eat from your hand but it wouldn't be harmful :).

Regular Dove bars aren't unscented (it's not a strong scent though), but the Sensitive version is fragrance-free.
