Hey guys, I’m here again to ask you guys for help! So I have an 8 month old shih tzu, shes a girl named stacy. I absolutely love her and I’m really scared because recently I woke up in the morning and her eye was completely shut closed by her lashes with mucus, so I cleaned it up but she wouldn’t let me, I rushed her to the vet, who cleaned it out and cut off the surrounding fur. He also prescribed her some eye drops and polyfax for a week. Only reason I’m scared is because this eye has gone a bit blueish and I don’t know how to react cuz I’m just really very scared, any help would be much appreciated!

Hi cat com cat com ....could you take a photo of Stacy's eye....and email it to the Vet.

It might be a reaction from the eye drops, or the polyfax...but I'm not sure, and I don't think anyone could tell you...except for your Vet, or a Vet eye specialist...Vet Opthalmologist.
She is fairly young, but since it is the eyes...if it were me,...then I'd want to be sure.

Did your Vet put any type of dye stain in the eyes? or use any type of special lights?
What is the name of the eye drops?

I agree with cat nap cat nap regarding the dye stain, did your vet perform this procedure? Is it possible Stacy scratched her cornea? When it comes to health issues with the eyes it can be serious, therefore, I would recommend seeing a veterinary ophthalmologist.
Here is an article that discusses some of the potential eye problems in the breed:
Shih Tzu - Brachycephalic Ocular Syndrome

Best of luck with Stacy's treatment. Please keep us posted on her progress. :alright:

My previous dog went through something similar.

She had an ulcer I think it was on her eye due to trauma (she might have scratched it). Her eye had looked strange the night before and by the next day, it had shut completely and she kept rubbing it.

The vet gave her some medication but it was a while ago so I don't remember unfortunately.

Hope your puppy feels better soon!
