I've had my eye on some cattleyas but can't afford them right now. MissOrchidGirl's videos taught me a lot about the different kinds and orchid care. I found a vendor in Vancouver and he's super nice. I didn't buy orchids from him yet but he's the one I got my fancy begonias from. There is also another vendor closer to where I live but their orchids are crazy expensive! Can't find catties, onsidies, bulbos, vandas or any of those sorts here for an affordable price. Vendor in Vancouver charges a lot for shipping but you get your order the very next day and he has more varieties and packs well.

One of the Peperomia's stalks fell off today 😮 No idea what happened. It was fine this morning. When I got home from work, it was bent over. The cats don't have access to the bedroom during the day.

Where the stalk broke off:

The rest of the plant looks ok, just the still droopy leaves. I haven't watered in a little over a week.

The succulents all got a good drink today. They're going at least 2 weeks without needing water now.

Some of my succulents that haven't done much seem to be growing! Must be winter growers?

The Haworthia seems to have new, plump growth.

Watered my lithops the other day due to wrinkling. Should not have to water it for the rest of the winter? I didn't give it much water and it looks so filled now. No more wrinkly brain.

This one also has new, green growth. Did almost nothing all summer, and not so many new leaves have appeared. Maybe this one will give me action the next few months, too.

Watered for the first time last week, and the babies of same type of plant above has the most growth. They are the round leaf ones in the second (out of three) or middle circle. The inner circle ones also plumped up real nice.

Again, the round ones had the most noticeable growth, but the others also plumped up a bit.

I watered my orchid yesterday. The flowers continued to droop more so I watered it and this morning the flowers have perked back up so it did need watered. Two of the smallest buds have fallen off. Tomorrow I am going to get what I need to put together a humidity tray and some food. It has been warm enough here this week so I haven't been using the heat but when I do start that will really dry things out.

I got another question, seems like I can find two or three different answers on the internet. When the blooms are done should the spike be cut below the first notch below the last bloom or all the way down at the base, I have seen both. One site also said to put a paste of cinnamon and water on the cut as a fungicide.

Anybody have challenges with molding terra cotta pots? Seems a couple of mine are growing mold on the outside upper rim...

Another stem fell off the Peperomia :frown:

I have no idea why. I barely water the plant.

LTS3 LTS3 Oh noes! I'm not familiar with that type of plant, but my succulents down turn leaves like that when they were not getting enough sun.

Hopefully someone has experience with that type of plant and will chime in soon. I'd hate to suggest something that isn't right for your plant.

Love this nickname for the store <3 It really feels like it to me, too. Such beautiful, healthy looking plants. And I haven't been to the store in forever and still really enjoy seeing all the sweet things you see. Some of the succulents I recognize in my own collection, and the ones at the store are larger versions, which makes me excited to watch mine grow.

My mom said she had a present for me and told me to wait in the basement. Then when I got the all clear, I walked into the living room to find this. Early birthday present she says. I wanted one with this colour for the longest time and she saw it and knew it was for me. View attachment 358422

That is pretty. I find myself looking at the orchids every time I go to the Supermarket. I am going to stick with just the one for awhile anyway. I got some of the small polished river rocks and set it up on the rocks and water to try to up the humidity. I also fed it some food this past weekend. I also have it in a east window and it also gets light, not direct, but some light from the grow lights.

There was a lot of snake plants of various sizes. There were ferns and other green foliage plants. Some orchids but none had any interesting color or pattern. I guess spring and summer is the best time for flowering and interesting plants.
