A new addition to my collection:



A holiday gift from a co-worker The pothos has to stay at work because it's toxic to cats. It's in a blah black outer pot. I'll have to find a more decorative pot for it or jazz up the pot with stickers or something.

Any orchid will rebloom. They are finicky about reblooming. The moth orchids, which is what most sold outside of specialty shops are, have gotten so cheap that most people don't try. They just get another orchid that is in bloom.

I'm going to have to drop by work next week to water the pilea and orchid. I don't think they can go a week without water. The others should be fine.

I think I will stop by the garden center at some point next week, mostly to look at decorative pots. I'll browse the plants but there's usually nothing good this time of year.

Isn't the cacti themed pot cute? I'm debating whether to go back and get the small cacti themed pot for my Hoya I do need more moss to use as pot filler so .... Pot can be bought here but for more than what I paid: Plant Icon Pot — Articulture Designs

The gray-ish green pot is for the Pothos at work. The mini African Violet in the owl pot might be moved to work.

The cat pot is cute but $25 It's no bigger than the owl pot.









I stopped by work to water my plants. Still no flower from the paperwhite The bulb seems to have shrunk? I think this one might be a dud Orchid flowers are still wilting but that's normal I guess. Pilea is happy in the cat pot. Pothos is doing well. The Jade didn't need to be watered.




Sad news: the "Cave of Wonders" is closing at the end of January after over 100 years in business Pandemic related reasons and rising real estate costs. I'll miss browsing the shop.

There were planters in the shape of headless naked female bodies I didn't take any pictures of those.

I bought more moss to use a filler and the smaller cacti-themed pot for the Hoya and the "on point" mini pot for the Jade at work. The Hoya is a bit too small for the pot but I need to repot it at some point. One of the roots is peeking out from the drainage hole. Do succulents need a pot with drainage holes? If not, I can just repot the Hoya right into the cacti-themed pot with some gravel at the bottom.

My Pinterest feed keeps showing my pictures of decapitated doll heads turned into cacti holders.

OK, I know I have rather dark taste, but not that dark.

All my plants are in for the winter. The avocado trees are actually putting out new leaves, which surprises me. The did come from South American avocados though, so maybe that's why they are confused. I put a lot of bulbs in planters ready for spring last month, but I haven't had time to check out the gardening section for a while now.

No picture. I could use some advice, please. A GF gave me a gorgeous cyclamen. Well, it was gorgeous. Now it's a mess. The leaves are wilting, the flowers are drooping and I think it's going to die. I looked up cyclamen and here's what I did.

I removed the spent flowers and leaves, took the tuber out of the old pot and put it in a new pot with fresh soil. Gave it a very light watering. And stuck it on top of the fridge in the WeShed at a north-facing window. And I'm going to let it go there for a while and see what happens. I think cyclamen is considered a bloom and throw it out plant, but I'd like to try to keep it. If it starts to grow again, I'll move it to an east window (I only have north and east windows for plants.).

The WeShed is a little on the coolish side; I don't keep it very warm, low 70s. The African violets seem to do well there, as long as they have the light they need to bloom.

Does anybody have a cyclamen? How do you care for it? I think it's temperamental. Thanks!

I'll have to take some pics today. They are doing good and some very in need of water, so watering soon! Not sure what new plants I want and feel I am at a good amount. However, looking forward to spring when I can start my vegetable plants outside again! Any new plants you are hoping for?

My favorite pots are the two colorful ones with cacti and plant images on them.

Ah, I love those doll planters! Very creepy, but sometimes cute and artistic. It's really neat when it looks like hair growing out, depending on what plant is in them.

Is your avocado tree inside, too?? How big is it and how big do they get?

Plant updates!

Haworthias. They seem like they are getting bigger and filling their pots up well.

Lithops:

Mixed plant shelfs. More have pretty red/pinks due to light stress from having enough light <3

And cactus bloomed!

I can barely find an indoor cat-free space for the plants I have over the winter. No new ones until I sort that out! Maybe one of those indoor greenhouses. . .I bet a 4-foot tall one would be enough.

Great pictures W WillowMarie ! How many plants do you think you have? I wish I had the room for that many plants. I don't think there's any particular plant I want to get. I just buy whatever catches my eye.

Winchester it might be temperature stressed or improper watering.

Is your avocado tree inside, too?? How big is it and how big do they get?

I have 5 of them, sharing two big planters. The pits started sprouting in the compost heap, so I fished them out and brought them indoors to see how they'd do. They're about 30 centimeters tall now. I've no idea how big they get. I might have to try some bonsai techniques on them if they get too big. They wouldn't survive outside with the winters we get up here.

And cactus bloomed!

Oh, I have one like that! Mine blooms every summer and then puts out new little babies when the flowers fall off.

I needed to use a lot of museum putty to stick this pot on It's slightly bigger than the original terra cotta pot.

The paperwhite got discarded. It never produced flowers The leaves were starting to turn brown.

Does the pothos look ok? The leaves and stems seem very limp It was last watered a week ago by a co-worker because I was WFH. She's a plant person so I don't think she would have overwatered. Various web sites say underwatering causes limpness. I just soaked the pot in water. Maybe that will help.
