Hello Cat people!!! I sure could use some help. I am a dog-people, not terribly versed with cats.

I owned the perfect cat for 16 years, shes been gone almost 2 years.

I took in a Tuxedo female, Pandy, from my family several years ago, she had been with my mom, my sister, etc, but she has been with me for at least 5+ years now. She was an only cat after my other passed on.

We found a very sickly young kitten in a park last July 4th, named her Purrcilla, so obviously brought her home and nursed her back to health. She slept with me suckling on my head for weeks, after being bottle fed, etc. Today she is a gorgeous long haired black spayed female with all claws, and outweighs Pandy by at least 2lbs.

Pandy, we are guessing to be around 16-17 is a spayed female with all claws. Shes a snuggy talkative kitty. Always sleeping with us.

Pandy and my dearly departed kitty Peanut had an understanding to just stay away from each other, never a fight. Only hissing.

Now, into the issues...

From day one Pandy was less than amused, hissing constantly...but as Purrcilla got older Pandy would literally pin her down and attack her so badly Purrcilla would pee and poo herself out of fear.

We purchased a new home last July and as we went up on weekends to work we would take the kitten with us, in fear of what would happen while we were away. So, the new home smelled like Purrcilla, I THOUGHT Pandy would think she was coming into Purrcillas home and be better...but its consistanly getting worse.

Attacks are about every other day, but they are usually quick and Purcilla will run (or hide)..but shes a big sissy, so if Pandy can pin her down, she does.

Just last night I heard them screaming and carrying on in the basement, I hollered PANDY (usually that works) but it didnt stop, I ran downstairs, found them, grabbed Pandy, locked her into the craft room, and went back for Purrcilla. Purrcilla had yet again Peed and Pood herself.

I am at a loss. I have tried consoling Pandy - no help. I have tried locking Pandy in another room, that surely doesnt help. I have even locked her out on the deck (for like 2 minutes, cause then I feel guilty).

The ONLY good thing- when I give them treats, I can have them a foot apart, give them cookies, pet them, and they just walk the opposite directions.

I am no moron when it comes to animals. I have been rescuing dogs, horses, cats, chickens, ducks, etc etc. for 20 years.

But I am just at a loss on how to make these two girls co-exist together. Please, please give some funky crazy tips!!

THANKS!

Jamie & the unhappy kitties.

Hi and welcome.

Bluntly it sounds like you have not done introductions correctly.  You are going to want to start over entirely using the steps outlined in this article http://www.thecatsite.com/a/introducing-cats-to-cats

Keep in mind that each step may take days or even many many weeks and that the whole process may take months. Cats unfortunately go at their own pace.

Good luck.

Thanks much for the article!

I read it through...but in all reality, this is about scent introduction.

Isnt it like, ohhh, 9 months late for that? They know each others scents already. They share sleeping spots (different times of course).

Pandy sleeps on my feet, Purrcilla sleeps on my pillow. They do share the three litter boxes and two food dishes and two water dishes....

I do separate them during the day as well, Pandy in our bedroom which is her favorite place to be. She has her own water and litter box.

Im hoping for an actual action I can take. I think Im far beyond sharing a smelly blankie....

oh and PS - I cannot give Pandy cat nip anymore - she gets aggressive when she has it. :(

it's never too late. Start over as if they've never met before, as if you've just brought the new kitten home. It'll be ok :)

This.

There is no other advice for you. I mean this very respectfully, but you are mistaken, and it does and will work to start over.  There is nothing else you can do that is at all likely to be effective  short of separating them permanently.
