Scratcher recommendation

My cat has an unusual scratching preference: he likes to scratch on the piping that runs around the edge of the seats of upholstered chairs. The position is that he's standing up with his front legs parallel to the floor, and he scratches sort of horizontally and down, on the edge of the seat.

I've tried several different types of scratchers but nothing will dissuade him from the chair habit. I have a large cat tree near his favorite chair-victim with sisal wrapped and carpeted poles, and a couple of horizontal cardboard scratchers as well as a wall-mounted curved cat shelf. He scratches one of the sisal poles (that I wrapped with extra thick rope to mimic the upholstery piping) and ignores everything else.

I'm looking for a cat scratcher that requires minimal floor space and has that same size & shape as the chair edge. I haven't seen anything that might suit. Does anyone have a recommendation for something that might work?

Take that horizontal scratcher and tilt it up to the chair seat. He may start scratching on it instead. That's where I put all my cardboard scratchers and it's kept my cats off the furniture.

Hmmm, I'll give that a shot but I think he won't like the lack of stability. Thank you for the suggestion!

My cats do not like sisal. They do use corrugated card board. It has lasted over a year so it is worth the price. They mostly like slanted so they can strretch. Also on chewy

Planning to be a first time cat owner here.

I am on the prowl looking for a nice scratcher, and this one appealed to me. I don't know what my potential cat likes in terms of toys or scratch posts, but I may end up ordering this one anyway! She is an adult cat, unsure of age but know this shelter is a foster org so the cats and dogs aren't stuck in a cage or cat room all day.

A cat video told me to get a horizontal and a vertical scratcher just to see which one the cat likes best.

My cat likes the cardboard one too. He never uses the cat tree, but went through several different cardboard ones. He also has a piece of rough carpet that he uses for scratching.

My girls like the cheap ones from Aldi or B&M .. I do find they use them more if I sprinkle cat nip in them. It attracts them to scratch of the right place.
I also have one of these that they like....

Yep, you can post links here! Also that item looks like a neat choice for a cat!

Cat trees are also kinda expensive, but I added one to my wishlist on Amazon but heard Chewy has good ones too.
