So my worst fear just came to life few minutes ago.
Scout was attacked by the dog that's been bothering him. I have been at college for awhile so couldn't help. Bruno ended up getting into my room where scout resides and attacked him. Scout tried to flee but ended up making it only halfway to the hall before being unable to breathe and passed away.

My younger sister was the one who found the scene and is currently blaming herself.
Scout was my cat so she is very upset and thinks I'm angry at her. If anyone has ways to help soothe her and calm her down that would help. Plus any kind words for my beloved cat who I've had since a kitten. He died scared and young. Scout recently turned 4.

What's done is done, and there is no changing the facts. Scout died, hopefully quickly, and there is no going back. A dog that kills domestic animals, like cats, may progress to small children eventually, please keep that in mind.
Your love for Scout, and his for you, will remain with you for the rest of your life. Love is spiritual, so eternal. You were with him in his heart. It was no one's fault except the dogs. Accidents happen and unless they were intentional there is no blame on yours and and your sisters actions. But the guilt and horror will remain for a long time......
Scout was given what he wanted most in this world, care, a home, and most of all love. He is at peace. To be remembered and loved after death is a great honor. He is a cherished part of your life's journey and would want you to go on into the future and live it as you would want for him to go on if you were the first to go. Seeking life's beauty and happiness, not drowning in sorrow and tears. That is love and he wants it no different.
I have been through this kind of horror, adn would not wish it for anyone. It took me a long, long time to work through what happened, and it never completely goes away. But what helps is to focus on the good thigs he brought to your life. Because there is so many more of those moments. Not one of us is perfect, and mistakes will happen throughout life. Do not let it change your life, it will dominate every moment and bring nothing but sadness and despair. Take a deep breathe and take one day at a time, healing a broken heart is not easy or fast. My heart goes out to you, I'll keep you, Scout, and your sister in my thoughts and prayers.........RIP precious Scout. You will always be remembered, you will forever have a special place in a loving heart. May the good Lord bless and keep you, until you meet again!

Rest you gentle, Scout, dream you deep. Your pawprints are on someone's heart forever.

Know this...Scout is beyond all pain and fear. No matter how hard his passing was, it was brief. Now, Scout is Home in That Place Where All Things Are Known. Scout blames NO ONE, not even Bruno, especially not you or your sister, who would have moved heaven and earth to stop it, if either of you could. This is the Deepest Truth I know, that love never dies. It is translated and purified into Love, and continues on. And from his new Home, Scout sends his Love back to you (and to your sister), to walk with you down through all of your days. Because Love abides. Always forever, Love abides.

Tell your sister that it’s not her fault, and Scout will never blame her. He doesn’t blame you or even Bruno. All he remembers is love. And your dog was just being a dog. There’s nothing that could’ve been done. He’s looking after YOU now. You, your sister, and even Bruno. We’re here for you.
