Well, my best friend locally was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer, given 3-6 months without chemotherapy, 6-12 months with chemotherapy, and died 11 days later.

Julie was diagnosed with diabetes and now I'm giving her 7 units of special cat formula insulin ($110 a bottle) daily.

It has rained here every day for the last week. Not a lot, just enough to be irritating.

I got to meet my son again after 35 years. He is exactly like me. Same music, same British comedy, same almost everything. I showed his picture to my friend in Florida who knew me at my son's present age. He said that it was like a time machine.

So, some good, some bad, but each day brings me closer to Home.

News since last post:
Last Tuesday night, I managed to fall with my right leg under me, breaking both tibia and fibula at the ankle, almost causing a compound fracture.
I had to take an ambulance to the VA in Little Rock, be sedated, and have the doctor manipulate it back in line. Spent 5 days in the hospital.
Then, when they did a blood test, they asked how long I had been diabetic. I said, that was the first I had heard about it.
So now I am on insulin, which makes Julie happy (JK).

Nice two weeks...NOT.

Supposed to go back on the 19th for surgery to put a couple of screws in. Oh, joy.

Ouch! I hope you are on the mend! At least now you have that data so you can spend time here while you are off your feet for a bit. :alright: With your furry nurse to help of course.:catlove:

OK, so that's your quota of 'things going wrong' for at least the rest of the year!
Keep that sense of humour.. it's a gift when things go pear-shaped. :)

Pear shaped I can deal with. It is when it goes Wahoonie shaped (thank you, Sir Terry) that it starts getting crazy. :insertevillaugh:

I still haven't made it back to the VA hospital yet. I can't find anyone reliable to drive me. I was offering $75 to drive me there and back, using my car. Now, I'm trying to find a professional transportation company to take me. I contacted one and found out they have a minimum distance of 180 miles, for a minimum charge of $2,400. Until I have an evaluation appointment, I can't have any surgery done. So I am still in a cast from toes to top of shin.

I may have to attempt driving myself to Little Rock. The main problem is getting me from the house to the car. Then, I may have a problem with lead foot from the cast. My car, 2012 Sonic named " 'edge'og ", has an automatic transmission and cruise control.

Have you called the local churches? the VFW? Methodists and Jehovah's Witnesses are typically very proactive in helping out those in need, as is the VFW. The Catholic church may have a St. Vincent dePaul society.

I do not deal with churches. The VFW said go to Mena (30 miles away)and ride the van that leaves at 5am.
