Hi everyone, I'm new here and hoping to get recommendations on a specific type of canned food.
I have a cerebellar hypoplasia cat, he's an orange cutie named Filbert, he is moderate/severe in wobbliness, and requires assistance with eating. We have a great feeding routine that he looks forward to at every meal. My question regards his canned food. I had previously been feeding him Natural Balance canned Venison and Pea...but it has been discontinued. I fed this food strictly due to the stickiness, thickness, and density of the food. It is super thick and dense (so dense that I use a second spoon, dipped in hot water, to scrape the food off the first spoon), and this thick texture allows him to pickup mouthfuls easily since he has some difficulty lapping up thin, soupy, or soft/mousse/airy pates. I am able to add in a scoop of Orijen kibble and it all mixes together into a nice thick paste that he can easily eat. I have also used Merrick Purrfect Bistro canned Indoor Cat since it had a similar dense texture...until it was discontinued as well. I was hoping someone has tried similarly thick textured canned food and could give me a recommendation. I prefer premium brands (no Friskies, Fancy Feast, or 9 Lives please), and my cat does not have any dietary restrictions so he can eat any protein.
Can I use any canned food out there?...yes, but I'm trying to make life for a cat that was born handicapped a little bit easier.
Thanks all!
