It is all about business (just my opinion) not about safety for the consumer. I have subscribed to food safety news for a long time and found it helpful and informative. This is why we grow as much of our food as we can and we do so organically. There was already a shortage of people in my opinion to do all the inspections needed.I expect more food issues and food born illness in our future.

Same here. I have never been itching so bad to get my vegetable garden going.

Absolutely, on all, IzzysfureverMom IzzysfureverMom . NONE of these recalls should ever happen, or would happen if those tasked with inspecting what goes into all our mouths and systems did their due diligence. *After all, from a selfish and survival standpoint, it could be THEIR food/drink that's tainted!*
Just speaking from the viewpoint of a proud second-generation Californian, it was said that we fed, if not the world, at least a sizeable proportion of our nation with produce etc. Now, due to being focused elsewhere and in no small part to human-caused climate change and resulting disasters like the one we are still living through, we have instead, huge swaths of fallow and scorched earth. We need to get back (forward) to putting our land to work to feed us.

I know here every year more of our independent farmers close up shop. Corporate farms are becoming the new normal. AND some of them are raising cattle right next to the baby spinach you are going to put in your salad tonight. My shoppers loyalty card has notified me several times that an item I bought in the past had issues, peaches or flour. While the items I bought were ok I appreciated the heads up. I have tried to explain to some people who feel these companies are tracking them it is important to have because of these notifications. I have done a ton of reading and research on these matters.

A country's population is its treasure.
Or so I was always led to believe.

This is mostly about dog food, however in December they did recall some of their kitten mix. So I thought those who feed it to their cats would be interested in what's going on. First the bit about December, then the article for what's going on now.

Although no illnesses were reported in connection with this recall, the same cannot be said for two prior recalls.
  • On December 6, 2024, the FDA received a complaint about two cats that had developed gastrointestinal symptoms after being fed Blue Ridge Beef – Kitten Mix (two different lot numbers). The cats survived. The company recalled a single production lot of the Kitten Mix after the Massachusetts Department of Agriculture Resources reported the presence of Salmonella in a sample of the food.

Tuna recall for anyone using tuna as treats, bribes.

By Phyllis Entis on February 7, 2025
Tri-Union Seafoods is recalling certain lots of Genova®, Van Camp's®, H-E-B and Trader Joe's, due to a manufacturing defect in the "easy open" pull tabs.

With gratitude, as always, K Kflowers . You'd think (I would, anyway) that with all the "making great!" and "fixing it" and dismantling of the "deep state," someone would prioritize the health of all those Americans they claim to love! :sigh:
