From the US FDA website:

"The J. M. Smucker Company today announced a voluntary recall of specific lots of Special Kitty® wet, canned cat food due to health concerns potentially associated with ingredients believed to not meet the Company’s quality and safety standards.

The specific product is Special Kitty® Mixed Grill Dinner Pate. In addition to being sold individually this product is also sold as part of variety packs. If pet parents have any of the products below in their possession, they should stop feeding it to their cats and dispose of the product.

MORE disturbing information.........
  • Previous Smucker’s recall notices provided consumers specific causes for the recall… this time, 'not so much', it's "due to health concerns potentially associated with ingredients believed to not meet the Company’s quality and safety standards.” Very vague, and non-specific
  • The symptoms provided by Smucker’s appear to be VERY similar to the ones described in a previous Smucker's pentobarbital contamination recall.
  • This recall states the product was all manufactured on a single day.......but, the best-before dates span a period of four months (that would indicate a marked departure from usual best-before date determination)
Those would appear to be the key points from today's TRUTH about pet food newsletter: https://truthaboutpetfood.com/suspicious-and-irresponsible/

Oof I just got some 22oz cans of the mixed grill few weeks ago. I've been feeding them here and there, and haven't had any issues. I know that it says only the 5.5oz cans are affected from a specific batch but should I hold off from feeding any more for awhile?

M mwallace056 - this recall is for what Smucker calls a "Lot Code" which has a specific best before date and is restricted to 5.5oz cans.

I'd probably call them if I still had worries.
