Whenever I empty the litterbox, I make the surface smooth and neat.
My cat walks by,no intention of using the boxes, but goes in and messes things up with her paws, pushing the litter into a mound over here and there.
Then she goes onto the next one and does the same thing.
I am in real trouble with her if I dare to change the brand! She walks by several times after re-arranging , almost like keeping a lookout in case someone happens to come by and she can catch them in the act of tampering!
Does anyone else's cat do this or is my cat just weird?

She apparently likes her litter a certain way!! My cat doesn't - and never did- do anything like that. She gets in, does her business, and gets out! Of course, she never covers anything either, so she really shows no interest in the box or the litter other than when she needs to go.

If this is a fairly new routine, just watch her as some cats will do things like what you are describing when they have a UTI or some form of urinary issue.

I think she is somewhat like me..Type A...I have to have things in a certain way and I really see myself in this behavior. I will keep my eye out for a UTI..but the signs of it are not there...she pees a lot at one time, when she goes in there to pee, she really pees !,not vocalizing. Can't tell about any blood because it is clumping litter.
I know the behavior is common for people, but cats?

You just never know what is going on in their sweet heads. Perhaps she is doing a thorough search to see if her deposits have really been removed - there can be a bit of linger scent even after you clean the box and she just might find it all confusing. Or maybe she is being efficient and is getting potential spots ready for future use.

Yes. Magnus loves to dig. Sometimes he just digs. Especially after I clean it and make it level. He's done this since he was little.
