Today, I've been thinking about my first cat. Pepper was your "average" cat, but I remember a bizarre little quirk of his.

I've had the stuffed cat in my avatar since I was little. Pepper became OBSESSED with it. He would go into my room, knock it off my bed, and drag it downstairs. If I tried to hide it under the rest of my stuffed animals, he'd dig it out.

What I'd like to know is how he recognized it as a "fellow" cat

Maybe that, but also maybe he was crazy about your scent on it, being so strong since it had been with you for so long

Possibly, but I had stuffed animals older than that. It's just so strange that he was able to pick out the only cat.
