It's getting to be that time of year again, when our thoughts lightly turn to ghosts in the attic and monsters under the bed! MY time of year!

So...would you ever buy a known "haunted" house? Yes, no, maybe? What questions would you ask ahead of time?

I would. I have no problems with living with those who aren't. Living, that is. And I do live with two cat spirits already. The most trouble they cause is going wild playing with Hekitty around dawn some mornings. And yes, it is very obvious that she is playing with someone, not just solitary cat games.

We have Harrigan, our resident poltergeist. If you want to read of all the mischief he's caused, do a search for Harrigan. I don't really believe in ghosts, but there are things that happen here that simply cannot be explained, like the table exploding, the red with batteries dead ten or more years suddenly starting to play, things missing and reappearing, so many strange things. No apparitions, though. No strange sounds. So who knows? I do know I'm not moving after 46 years here.

I dunno i cant decide if i would, depending on the type of haunted house, like if it was a haunted house possesed by demonic entities then the answer would be hell no way.

But in saying that i would buy a haunted house if it was really cheap. I guess it depends what is haunting it.

It depends. A really nasty ghost? Nope? A demonic entity? Nope.

But if it's a very nice ghost who just wants to "live" out the rest of its "life" in peace and quiet? Sure. Why not? Besides, once we moved in with the girls and all my music, I'm sure said ghost would be finding new haunts!

My parents bought a house that the previous owner had passed away in (from natural causes). They have had some weird s*it go down in their house, from finding medicine that an older gentleman would use (ie, Viagra) to my mom hearing someone shouting her name on several separate occasions.

My DH passed away in our house suddenly (also natural causes) and while he's been by a few times to check on me, he's moved on. He came by one night to introduce himself to the girls. I felt his presence very strongly and they definitely saw him. They were sitting side by side on the living room floor (which in itself almost never happens) and they were both acting as though someone were standing in front of them talking to them. They kept looking up and then down. They were reacting to someone- him. He loved all animals dearly and they loved him- especially cats. He was very allergic to cats but every cat he crossed paths with couldn't stay away from him. The girls were VERY interested in the whole interaction and this went on for a few minutes. I have no doubt that he came by to say hello and ask them to keep me out of trouble.

My house is calm now but the first five or six years I lived in the house I swear it was haunted. Flashlights and bed lamps have turned on by themselves usually during the night; my screen door, which had a latch you had to push up to lock, locked me out of the house one day; strange professional portrait pictures have showed up on my doorstep twice etc., three of the first workmen on house projects were injured on the job etc.

It didn’t really scare me but when lights turned on in the middle of the night I stomped down the hall and yelled more that once, “that is not funny!”

But whoever or whatever has moved on and things have been quiet for the last few years. We will see if my upcoming construction brings them back.

I guess it depends on the alleged ghost - a kindly quiet grandmother or child ghost who simply wants to peacefully watch over the household and be gentle with everyone inside or an evil spirit/demon/creepo/negative energy who wants to terrorize and torture you and everything you love?

It's quiet now, but when I first lived in my current house I'm pretty sure it was haunted by a small boy. It's a really long story; but to sum up as short as I can had some pretty obvious mischievous activity (Someone playing on the guitar downstairs at night, someone smacking me in the head when I was trying to sleep, shaking the corner of the bed, running around in another room, finger tapping etc) and I do know for a fact that a male child passed away in my room many years ago and his grave is on the property. My house is old, approx 160+ years old. For the most part you can tell the place was a happy home for many generations. I guess he got either bored with me and/or was fine with the new owner and went happily on his way :p

Anyhoo, it was startling but not sinister and survivable. I can live with that and buy if I adored the house enough. I can always do something like bless the property to give anyone peace if needed.. If given the choice for definite I probably lean towards a no, since I would rather have my home to myself as my quiet private oasis from the rest of the world, but again if I absolutely adored the house enough then sure.

But if was something dangerous that could physically and emotionally affect me, my daily life and my beloved pets and requires a full blown exorcism or reiki master or psychic medium then nope nope! Even if it was just hearsay, not going to risk it.

Slightly off topic but last month DD and I evacuated to the Tampa area because of the hurricane. We stayed at a La Quinta in Brandon. When DD was in bed trying to fall asleep, someone shoved her. She felt a hand in the middle of her back push her roughly. She initially thought it was me. We were not in the same bed. She looked over at me and I was asleep. She told me the next morning about it and couldn't believe that I didn't hear her scream. Creepy.

It was not the cats. They were in their fully enclosed playpen which was near the bed I was in.

It was room 212 in case anyone wanted to know for future reference.

This might be a trick of the mind when dealing with the death of a loved one, but I felt my mother's presence around me for the first couple weeks after her death. I felt like she was telling me not to worry. Kinda crazy I know. Having said that, I don't believe in ghosts, so I'm a party pooper come Halloween.

I know other people haven't had the same experiences I have had so you are not inclined to believe me but... I would never.

Spirits already run pretty rampant in the house I currently live in and it's difficult enough already co-existing with them. Some can be rude/mean, tease you. Some do not respect personal space. Some are very aggressive and can actually cause physical harm so I would never intentionally put myself in such a position. Some of them have made the animals uncomfortable as well.

The child spirits make me very sad as well. Most of them are alone and looking for their parents. It can really bring your mood down, especially when they ask you for help.

So, yeah... no.

Edit: Forgot to add...
