Since he doesn't take medicare and medicare won't pay for an annual physical,
Medicare will pay for what they term a 'Medicare Wellness Visit,' which is sort of like a mini-physical. At least that way you can speak with your doctor in person and address any questions or concerns about your health, meds, etc.

I loved my GYN because he would sit and talk about any concerns you have and not rush you in an out, but he has retired.
:yeah: I can relate since a few of my doctors are either getting up in age or retired too. I was told so many doctors got burned out last year during Covid and the pandemic that they either took early retirement and/or moved away. It's definitely hard to start over with a new doctor once you've been going to someone for a long time and had a good rapport with them.

I hear you on the fasting, I get a migraine if I can't eat or have caffeine first thing in the morning but I've been told your results are more accurate if you fast. Maybe you can do what I do, i.e. bring a snack with you and the biggest coffee thermos you can find for after the fasting test(s).
:lol:i already do that usually an iced mocha and bag of jerky

From what I hear, Medicare's wellness visit is a joke, especially since I've been going to this PCP for 25 years. He knows the meds I'm on since he prescribed them, and any concerns I might have were already addressed in previous visits. I think it's good only if you are switching to a new doctor.

I don't really like our GP, because of a very specific reason.
I once went to her with backpain. Now this isn't unusual for me, I've been under specialist supervision since I was 6, but after everything had been stable for a couple of years, we stopped going. Now I go there to ask if there's anything wrong, if I need to start going back to the specialist, anything. The only advice I got was: "you should excersise more. It'll build muscle and losing some weight won't hurt you either."
Now this really stung. I've struggled with an eating disorder in my teens, and still get moments where I really want to fall back in those habits. After a while of it going well, I was suddenly back in that mindset. I didn't want to eat anymore, I wanted to get back to my lowest weight and see if I could push myself further. I came home in tears, not only didn't I get any useful help, I had to deal with all these feelings again.

My therapists have been 50/50 on the good and bad relationship so far. I've found out I connect better with women in general. The one I have now is very straight to the point. This can be harsh at times and hurt, but I know she's right.
