Good morning and Happy Whiskers Wednesday! :kitty: August 5 - 9, 2024 is National Bargain Hunting Week. Who doesn’t like to find a bargain whether at a grocery store, thrift shop, garage sale, home goods store, etc.? I recently found bread on sale for a great price, buy one get one free. Then I found the perfect crossbody bag at a thrift store. DH is always searching for bargains at flea markets and estate sales. How about you?

WHAT BARGAIN(S) HAVE YOU FOUND RECENTLY?

Not so long ago, Michele and I attended an estate sale (!), where I found a tool used to install reinforcing 'biscuits' when joining two pieces of wood, and a photo book, published in 1918, about the U.S. Navy, from its beginnings to the (then) present date.

A couple weeks ago, our public library had their annual book sale. A bag of books for $25. I wasn't going to go, but Rick had never been to the book sale and he just wanted to see what it was like. I found a Dorie Greenspan Baking Book and a BBQ/Smoke cookbook, each for $2. I was really happy to find that Greenspan book, esp for only $2.

Purchased 2 large pans with lids, got them both with 50% cash back to replace two that needed replacing. I am always on the lookout to save money. We have a dedicated room in our basement that is solely a pantry, so when items are on sale that we use a lot I stock up. We have a Costco membership and credit card and get money back every year on that. Chewy.com started sales during covid buy $ 100 on qualifying items get a $ 30.00 gift card so I try to wait for that to come around which is every thirty/ forty days. There are a couple of shopping apps that offer cash back and I've done well with those.

I love library book sales and we donate books to two particular libraries that we like. When our daughter was visiting from the UK she "finally" went through her bookcase and closet. There were tons of books from her younger days that we just donated. I always find at least one or more books at library book sales.👍

Almost all the cookbooks I buy are the" used " copies on Amazon. They're cheap,or can be,and I've never been dissatisfied ever. Most of the time, they're like new or look to have never even been opened. So the last one was by Martina McBride...Martina's Kitchen Mix...it came from a Goodwill store, like new,for $6.It says on the back cover (there was no dust jacket) U.S. $30.00.

I have often thought it would be so great to have one of those - just to make things stronger when you are buikding something!

Every fall/winter I like to buy one new (or vintage) wool sweater. I was prowling Etsy to look for some vintage ones and save to my favorites list, and found one for $25 that I had to snap up immediately. Like new condition, 100% wool, and the brand, when new, sells for over $100. It's a pretty green color too. I'm excited for the weather to cool down so I can actually wear it, lol.
