Hello to all! Hope everyone is having a good summer thus far ☀

What’s the most unique or unusual way you’ve seen someone earn a living?

I remember back in the 90's/early 2000's during our family travels due to my dad's job as a consulting physicist, we met foreign young men in Japan and China who were hired simply to wear suits, hold briefcases and stand around looking busy within the company/office locations or even as filler for meetings or events to make the company look extra legit and impressive in it's connection to international ties. Even emphasized that they must be "Good looking men" in order to be hired  Sometimes they were international students who were studying locally, or individuals who were only staying for a couple of months to make a little extra money, especially after graduating or time in the army.

I have no idea if they still do this, but it was interesting.

cassiopea cassiopea is that 50 Cent? You did mention good looking men. The cat is handsome, too, though a bit intimidating.

I have met people with some unusual jobs. When I worked at the jail, I let a well dressed man use the bathroom off my office. A handsome though scruffy looking fellow was also sitting in the intake area. He was with the other man. He asked to use my bathroom and I told him he could go in the holding cell. It turned out he was an undercover FBI agent. :cringe: I said, "I thought you were an inmate." He said, "I know you did."

I have met people who worked on movie sets. One was somebody who had to be on set if animals were used in filming.

I also met someone who designed custom mermaid tails for TV and movies. He showed me pictures. They were beautiful. I asked him if he did the one shown on an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, but he didn't. He said he would have remembered that.

I also met someone who claimed she drove a truck to Area 51. She said she had met the Men in Black. This is my type of thing (even though I am not crazy about the movies.) I asked her if they were real people and she said they were real, just very serious.

My youngest Brother paints model "trucks, busses and fire apparatus". When he was younger he painted model cars and trucks as a hobby. One day he saw an ad in a model magazine looking for a parson who can paint busses. Apparently there are people who collect busses both full size and models painted like the big ones.

He answered the ad and ended up being very good at it and some people will pay more than you can imagine. It started as a part time gig but when he got laid off from his regular job he was able to support himself for over 2 years.

I don’t know but if someone could please pay me to homeschool my children that would be so appreciated.

I’ve heard of people who get to build Legos for a living and that sounds fun! I guess all my friends and family have normal, boring jobs except my bestie who sews.

I can't think of anyone I know who earned a living doing something unique but I remember an episode of Seinfeld where George got a job as a hand model. I hope this short video works.

So many content creators have some wild jobs because of the content they produce. Restocking videos, trad wife stuff, and lawn mowing or rug cleaning (my favorites). Oh and those "prank" videos. I absolutely hate those because the people who do them are not funny but instead bully, harass, or attack random and innocent people. Also anyone who participates in MLMs. Nobody makes money with those, so the 0.5% who actually make a profit are rare and also major scammers.
