Greetings! Happy Tuesday!

What song was or want to be the song for your first dance at your wedding?

*Even just theoretically or alternatively speaking, if you have no plans or desire to get married.

I always wanted to do a classical waltz, and my song of choice would be The Second Waltz by Shostakovich.

DH and I are not dancers and while we love a variety of styles; most still falls in the CCM category so there wasn’t much “romantic” that we were familiar with back then. (We’ve been together for 20 years and have danced together 3 times…)

We chose a song called Not the I But the You in Me by one of my favorite Urban style groups; Anointed. Part of me still thinks we could have skipped a first dance altogether; but we did have people join us for it. And I’m glad we did a lot of the traditional wedding stuff like bouquet and garter toss. For being introverts we really did have a big wedding… I guess I was more ambivert back then? :dunno:

We didn't have dancing at our wedding (small venue, and nobody on the guest list was into dancing). We did have a co-worker and his wife, who make their own Medieval music instruments, walk around our guests at the reception, dressed in Medieval garb, and playing various instruments. It was very nice and memorable.

Through a combination of heat and nerves, both Michele and me got sick and had to leave the reception before the first dance. Had we stayed, it would have been her favorite- the instrumental Love is Blue by Paul Mauriat.

I love to dance but not DH so they played Moon River at our wedding because it was a slow dance, (easy for DH to dance to), and one of my father's favorites.:heartshape:

We used "You Got It" by Roy Orbison.

I don't know what I would choose for my first dance song. Maybe "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You" by either Elvis or Michael Buble, I've Got You Under My Skin by Frank Sinatra or something by George Strait.

We were supposed to dance to 100 Years by Five for Fighting. However our idiot DJ instead played Superman by Five for Fighting. And yes, he was informed weeks in advance of our song.

Colour My World By Chicago, was played at the Wedding Dance. What stands out best in memory is that it was also played during the ceremony.

We also did not have music. And I wish I did not get married. LOL.

Anyway, if I can get back the past to return to my wedding day, I would love to have the song "Speak Softly Love" on that day for us to dance into.
