My apologies for missing last Thurs. I couldn't get the site to load.

Morning, as usual my questions are based on personal experiences. Right now I am going through a resume writing/job search training course.

Have you ever done any job search training, employment counseling, etc.?

Yes. After finishing my internship with a state agency back in 1998, I stayed with the same agency for a rural fellowship. Upon finishing that, I had no job or any prospects....I had agreed to an early separation from the company I was working for in order to finish my education; the company was closing down the plant in which I was working at the time, so it was definitely to my benefit to leave. I received an early separation package (retirement, insurance bennies for several months, etc.), did my internship, did my fellowship, and then came back home.

I signed up with a Career Links agency. Prepared my resume. All that good stuff. About a month later, a position opened in the county planning office. The woman from Career Links talked to me about the position and suggested that I apply. The Director hired me, knowing that I wasn't finished with college yet, that I had one more semester of work. And a requirement of me working in the planning dept. was that I finish that semester on time. Not a problem.

And I've been working here ever since.

Well, since I work for Canada's Employment Insurance in Service Canada, I have to say yes....but that is no longer part of my job.

But I wish I had, trying to help DD find a job...
