Have you been watching the Olympics? Have you ever competed in any of the sports which are represented by the Summer Olympics? While I do not follow many sports, I have found the Olympics fascinating since I was a kid. This year I have mostly watched gymnastics, men and women, and am in awe of what those athletes can do. I think that if you are alive at the end of the routine that you should get a medal.

I also watched the equestrian events, and track and field. One of my great uncles was on the same OSU track team as Jesse Owens and a cousin was a triple jumper at UCLA at the same time as Willie Banks although neither went on in the sport.

Watching the families in the stands as they wait for their child or sibling to compete is very touching.

I haven’t watched any this year. I used to watch gymnastics years ago, in the Olga Korbut days, but just not interested any more, I have never participated in any kind of sports except a little golf.

I'm more of a winter olympics fan but have watched some of the summer olympics in Paris. I like track and field as well as gymnastics. Simone Biles is incredibly awesome and extremely talented as is Paul Juda.

My DH was a runner in school and briefly in college so he has us watching the Track & Field events. I amuse myself by providing useless commentary and making rhymes from athletes names and identifying all the flags.

I enjoy the gymnastics, swimming and diving. But mostly I watch highlights and replays instead of dedicated programming. We got a subscription to Peacock for the month so DH can watch. He doesn’t make me watch nascar or anything else; so I can deal with Track & Field.

I don’t have teevee. Used to be anchor in track & field & boxed for many years. Getting more into swimming lately.

I have, somewhat. I like to watch and have it on in the background, but it can be hard for me to keep up with all of the different events. There are so many little events in each category, plus there are a ton of events that aren't really well covered because they're not super popular. I like to watch gymnastics (artistic and rhythmic), diving, and swimming; I also watched some of the whitewater kayaking and it was really impressive.

As for sports, I played varsity tennis, and did some gymnastics and running as a kid. I like to kayak too, and would love to go down the rapids, but don't think I could get through all of the gates. It would be fun to try though!

I haven't really watched it. I have watched Simone Biles events on You Tube. She has taken women's gymnastics to a different level. She just keeps getting better and better, makes me wonder where her ceiling is. She has definitely redeemed herself after Tokyo. She has also been very public about the importance of being mentally healthy, so she turned Tokyo into a positive.

Michele has it on from time to time, but I don't care if I see it or not. I never participated in any organized sports in school because I was too busy working, trying to make a buck.

I haven't been watching because I don't have a streaming service that has it on there. I threw shot put and discus in high school and discus is what I lettered in too. I also played soccer and softball (not sure if that is an event in the Olympics).

Have not watched this year. I've never liked the summer Olympics near as much as the winter ones (and I hate the way the broadcast wouldn't let me just watch an entire event from beginning to end, even the athletes who are absolutely not expected to make it to the podium).

We have been watching the olympics especially women's and men's gymnastics, swimming, and track. Some of the athletes are just amazing. Me...... I would have to be hospitalized if I was still alive after trying a lot of that stuff especially the gymnastics!

I've only watched clips of the sports on FB.... not sat down to watch anything. I don't have a TV, so that's out of the question, LOL. But I LOVE watching equestrian, diving and gymnastics.

I don't watch much of the Olympics, but I really do appreciate the hard work and discipline it takes to get there.
I will be watching or reading about the coverage tomorrow, though. A young man from a village about 30 minutes from here made it to the Olympics this year and he competes tomorrow. People around here are wild about supporting him. Whether be brings home the gold or comes home without, I suspect he will get a very warm, celebratory home coming from the locals because just to be there is such an amazing achievement!

I did gymnastics, but I was never very good.

I've only managed to watch the men's and women's gymnastics all around. The women were phenomenal (I'm not fully convinced Simone Biles is human), but I found the men's competition more exciting since all the top contenders fell and there was a new leader after every round so I had no idea who was actually going to win.

And I've seen a few clips on facebook of certain events and a few viral moments like that French pole vaulter (ouch!!!:eek::eek:). But we only have NBC through our antenna and the 3 year old mostly picks what's on (lately a mixture of Paw Patrol and Peppa Pig - I prefer Olympics).

I've only seen snippets of tennis, diving, swimming, boxing and gymnastics online but haven't properly sat down to watch a particular sport yet.

Simone Biles fell during the balance beam final and finished out of a medal, so she is human. I am no expert on gymnastics but I think the balance beam is her weakest event and the vault is her best. She is pure magic when it comes to the vault.
She is an amazing athlete. She is human alright. When she had issues a couple of years ago with vertigo and mental health she chose to step away for her own health and for her team and teammates ( she felt was bringing the team down ) Instead of being commended for that decision she was criticized. In my opinion it's sour grapes whenever people do exceedingly well at something their are those just waiting for them to fail.
