Happy Weekend!

What's your current pet peeve?

I'm starting to think that driving instructors no longer teach students how to use turn signals! Either they don't use them at all or they come to a complete stop in the middle of road, then put their turn signals on, and then turn off. And I shouldn't suggest that it's just younger drivers because I see a lot of older drivers who have evidently forgotten how to use turn signals as well.

Mine is one of long standing. It is people who will wait until you are almost upon them, then zoom out in front of you, then either immediately signal a turn or drive at 10 or 15 mph below the speed limit. It is especially so when the road behind me is clear of traffic.

Don't even get me started on drivers lately, they're rude and either forgot about rules of the road or just plain don't care.

But my current pet peeve is people who turn speaker on their cell phone when you're in an enclosed area and not only talk like they're at home but talk loudly. Did they ever learn manners? This happens in elevators, restaurants, stores, waiting in line at the cashier, etc. I've even seen it in doctors' offices.

It's telemarketers! I get so many phone calls a day (sometimes from people who have chickens in the background) trying to give me "free" health insurance. I can block them, but they will just call back from another number. Yeah, I want to give all my personal information to someone who calls with, or even without, a house full of chickens. I'm going to get right on that. :angryfire:

Sometimes, DH has taken to messing with them. He says, "Let me let you speak to my wife. Hold on, I'll go get her." Then, he puts the phone down on the table without hanging up. Mean? I have no sympathy for scammers and they would find out what mean really is if I could jump through the phone.

Just thinking about makes me happy. :seesaw:

I agree drivers these days are just plain ignorant. My Brother claims it is because everyone is playing with their phones and not paying attention.

When at home my biggest pet peeve is the people in the apartment below me regularly slamming doors and having loud conversations. It sounds like they are having an argument and yelling at each other. Sometimes so loud if I liked the woman I'd be worried.

I forgot all about the fireworks. I don't like them or the guns people shoot at New Years. I hate loud things.

One thing I noticed about cell phones. I am on mine now, but don't really use it in public. I went to Olive Garden with my brother and his wife. They were scrolling through their phones, ignoring me entirely, while we waited on our food. I looked around the restaurant and everybody was staring at their phones. It occurred to me that if someone was to walk in with the intention of shooting people, I would be the only one who would notice.

It seems like more people are self-centered and inconsiderate. It isn't just teenagers, that goes with being a teenager. I don't know if it is that as I get older, I am more sensitive to it or it is a byproduct of the lockdowns during the pandemic. Being considerate is a part of social skills that needs to be learned and practiced.

I didn't really notice phones so much until my Brother mentioned it. I've been carrying a cell phone for over 20 years but it is in my pocket or my purse. I don't send text messages or surf the net on it. These days I've noticed everyone has one in their had even little kids with a phone in their hand.

I agree people are missing a lot of what goes on because they are constantly eyeing their phone.

I think social media also has something to do with the lack of social skills. I have read several times that Gen Z is generally afraid of face-to-face meetings and dealing with people in general face-to-face. One of the complaints that employers have about Gen Z employees is that they aren't very good at teamwork. Teamwork requires social skills.

I also notice the phone thing. People are glued their phones, not only in restaurants, honestly I would just get up and go home if that happened to me. But the other day when I went shopping a women just left the store into the parking lot a almost got hit by a car.She was looking at her phone. The store has stop signs across the front of store at every turn aisle in the parking lot, I hardly ever see anyone stop. I do but that's me I guess. Most of the time I hate going any where between people's self absorption, traffic, and isane and I mean INSANE driving I'd love to take a pass.I get as much delivered as possible but still have to do some grocery shopping , doctors appointments etc.

Things not made as well as they used to be, or deliberately designed to fall apart so you have to order it again. Built in obsolescence. That, and have never been partial to the phrase: “Have a good one,” not sure why.

the way alot of these face book videos are putting women in a negative way making them seem like gold diggers or less than because they have dated other men before them :rolleyes3: dumb when you think about it everyone has a past its how we become who we are in the present by learning and knowing what we want because of our past.

DS and I were waiting to cross from the parking lot to the stores in a shopping center the other day and clearly watched an older lady fiddling with her radio or ac. Her eyes were not on the road at all and she sure never saw us! I told DS that’s why you look at least twice. :cringe:

My pet peeve is people who don’t listen when you try to politely tell them no about things and then add guilt until they push you over the edge. And then they feel entitled to more information than they are like you owe them an explanation. So over it.

I had this happen once in line at a store. Not only was the speaker on and both people were talking loudly, but every other word was the "f" word. Everyone in line appeared to be every bit as annoyed as I did.

I’ve noticed that kind of cell phone disregard with people connecting their phones to their cars. Everyone can hear the conversation in the grocery pickup spots. Maybe those grocery people get some juicy gossip from it. But I really don’t want to hear your business when I’m talking to the guy with my groceries. And if someone was broadcasting my conversation through their car? Id be done with them. Or maybe ask some embarrassing questions till they get the point. :headshake:

Right in this moment it's internet trolls. I asked a question on Reddit and then got one person being a total jerk because I have two large Staffie-mix dogs (similar to a pitbull but not a pitbull). So similarly, I hate when people discriminate against large dogs like mine because they have this wrong opinion about them being aggressive. My dogs are the sweetest dogs I've ever met and everyone who meets them says the same. I tell people that I've been bit more today by Remy my 7lb cat than I have ever been bit by either dog in the 3+ years I've had them.

The guy next door's Harley. I can hear him coming from a long way away, just getting louder and louder.
Delightful people, but what's with the excessive noise of these machines?
