My son is reading and analyzing a short story in his Literature class about a middle school aged boy trying to impress his crush by claiming to speak French getting caught lying about it. DS and I both got a kick out of the story. As we were finishing up our discussion DH walked in from work to hear the text ask if you have ever done anything similar to impress a crush. So I loud whispered that the first time DH asked me out he blushed so hard he went past red to purple. We all laughed.;)

Have you ever embarrassed yourself trying to impress a crush?

I think I was too shy to really try to impress anyone aside from trying to dress cute and act grown up; but I definitely managed to embarrass myself just being myself. :paperbag::rolleyes2: I look back at some of my outfits and roll my eyes. I also remember being mortified the time I forgot to wear mascara to play practice. I had eyeliner and eyeshadow on but no mascara. The poor guy probably didn’t even notice because I sure wasn’t brave enough to speak to him!!:rolleyes2::lol:

I don't believe that I have. I had no time for or interest in girls in high school- plus, no money- so that is out. Actually, my first girlfriend was Michele, and since we both lived in the same tiny village- in fact, about a mile apart on the same road- she knew all about me, so trying to impress her would have been a waste of time and effort.

I went with friends to a roller skating rink when I was in college. I can ice skate but never got into roller skating. Sure enough a guy I really liked was there but I was too embarrassed to try and roller skate so I stood on the side of the rink. Before I knew it he came up, took my hand and we skated together - actually he kind of pulled me along.

I am not a bad cook, but baking is much more dicey and candy making is entirely off the table. Years ago, I tried to make caramel candy for someone I wanted to impress. Supposedly you followed the recipe, put it in an 8 X 8 pan to let it sort of firm up and then cut it into chunks. It hardened into a solid block of sugar that could have been used as a door stop or weapon.

Yep, I saw my crush coming down the corridor at school. He smiled and looked my way so I leaned against the radiator behind me to try and look cool. Well I slipped and ended up on my backside right infront of him. I went bright red while he was laughing at me. He did ask if I was OK but I just said I'm fine and made my exit fast.

My husband used to try cooking and baking for me. There was a chocolate rum birthday cake that could have gotten you drunk. 😅 Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo that was quite dry. And then one birthday I wanted Blackberry Cobbler and found a frozen one. He stuck the candles in while it was still hot. It looked like melted pastel M&Ms. The memory is better than the dessert would have been without it!
