I am so tired I’m ready to just ask what would you do for a Klondike bar?:sleep:🛌

Last weekend we made a mad dash through a used bookstore because I thought it was open an hour later than it is. And its not very close to home! We still managed a tote bag full of books though. DS even got a big DK Cat Encyclopedia for $2. I found a practically new copy of a book that’s been on my kindle wishlist for a while; The Princess by Lori Wick. I’ve heard several people say its their comfort read so I wanted to give it a try. DD actually has it in her room right now though.

Do you have a “comfort read” book? Or just a favorite you like to reread?

I find rereading favorites to be one of the best ways to relax. I tend to reread certain series based on my mood though. I’m not sure which is my favorite. It is probably either Surrender the Past by Elizabeth Johns or A Noble Masquerade by Kristi Ann Hunter (both Regency). But for modern moods its The Indentured Queen by Carol Moncado. I definitely prefer escaping to somewhere that doesn’t currently exist it seems.

Klondike bars are addictive. We nom the dark chocolate wrapped vanilla. They're square, the chocolate coating is thin, shatters when you bite down. Wrapped in foil so all you have to do is fold it down, start eating, keep unwrapping and quickly finish.

I always return to the Dune series of books by Frank Herbert. I also love Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar series, though I'm sadly faaaaar behind in that series. I'm not much of a reader in that I don't read much other than animal care books. If I've not memorized an educational book, it's not good enough for my education!

I will reread articles but rarely reread a book. However, a friend of mine had to read the book,Tuesdays with Morrie, for her book club. I own it so told her she could borrow it. Then guess what I did? Yap, I reread it because it's such an amazing and touching book. :rbheart:

I have almost all of the novels by Louis L'Amour; a few hardcovers, but mostly paperbacks. All have been re-read multiple times; in fact, I am in the process of reading one now. It's not exactly War and Peace, but it's diverting.

I haven't read any books since I got the cats. I just don't have time, plus I have to take care of the house now, since it's just me & dad. If it was a digital book on my phone maybe. I like romance & Christian Romance. And true stories like biographies & autobiographies, or true crime.

My favorite comfort read is probably Love Among the Walnuts by Jean Ferris. It's one of those books that just ends up so happy and everything works out and gives you the warm fuzzies.

Another favorite is A Northern Light by Jennifer Donnelly. It's not so happy (it's based around a tragic murder that actually happened) but it's still kind of inspiring in a way.

I think maybe Mordant's Need two book series: The Mirror of Her Dreams and A Man Rides Through, by Stephen R. Donaldson. It is a fantasy story about a land on the other side of her apartment mirrors. I first read it some time in the 1980s. It was from a book club I belonged to at the time where you buy X number of books and get X number free. I started reading it and couldn't put it down. As I was getting toward the end I couldn't imagine how they could wrap things up in the last few pages. Turns out the last page was "to be coninued." Part two was not out yet, but I saw it in the book store around Christmas when we were shopping and grabbed it. I never buy hardcover books, but I bought this one. I kept trying to read it as husband was driving to visit out families - from Ohio to PA and NY - and he kept telling me put that book down! I finished it over our vacation and left both for my sister and she got just as involved. I just re-read it a few months ago and still enjoyed it.

I love Terri Blackstock's books! Has she read the "Light" series? It's awesome!!
I'm 99% sure what she has on her shelf is The Suncoast Chronicles because she loaned it to me to try one year and I couldn't do it. She might have more but I know she was trying to keep less around since she is getting older. I'm really sensitive to the kinds of media I take in. Like it will stick with me into my dreams and I definitely don't want to live out these suspense novels in my sleep! I'm surprised DH doesn't have any of her novels now that I think of it. Hes a Ted Dekker/Frank Peretti fan and DD loves Ted Dekker's middle reader novels. I'm not sure if she's quite ready to graduate to his adult books. I just think it's awesome she loves them. I have read some Dee Henderson and enjoyed it. MIL loaned me an audio book once from her and it was awesome to clean and iron uniforms while listening to. I keep thinking I need to give Ted Dekker's middle readers a try but my own TBR is never ending. Then there is the other series that have been recommended for my kids that I'm trying to preview a bit. it's surprisingly nice to find novels we can all enjoy.

I have several comfort fanfictions, but not really any books. All of the fanfictions are for the show Castle and they are in alternate universes, so in a way they are books (and often most of them would be awesome books).
